It was yet another wintery night in a city which never sleeps. The sun has set mere minutes ago and only a ray of crimson could be seen stealing its final moments in the horizon. Temperatures, even during the day, were at all-time low and snowflakes were decorating the night sky before piling up on the cold street concrete. For once the sleepless city seemed to have fallen into deep slumber as the silence began to embrace it with every passing hour. Every living soul that finished with the day's work headed home to meet their families. Well, not exactly every one...
Spending nights in the bar was not to his taste or style, but Daniel made... another exception. Out of all the trash he had visited Blue Candle bar was of acceptable standard and quality. Atmosphere and music were to his liking; it was a rather calm place without any loud parties or dramas regardless of events going on. On top of that, it was isolated of outside sounds and did not have any large parties for Christmas or New Year- absolutely perfect for keeping oneself calm without vexatious sounds of fireworks and people yelling while getting drunk off cheap booze. Blue Candle was also a place Daniel made few contacts with- owner himself is a man of many faces and many trades so, for Daniel, it was a safe haven. Nevertheless, he was not in there for the sake of drinks. He was expecting company at any time.
He ordered a single glass of some classy drink, Deep Blue... whatever that was. It felt like putting a mix of tonic and mouthwash in your mouth, but Daniel did not seem to be bothered. He was taking sip after sip slowly before turning his head towards the bar's door and then to, what seemed like, a small notebook. "Late again, are we...?" He muttered as he continued with that repetitive ritual until footsteps could be heard and he could sense a presence approaching. With one glance he figured it out.
"Playing detective games again?" Daniel inquired once the person was in radius for his words to be audible.

Young man was slowly approaching Daniel as he received the sassy comment right off the bat. He pulled back the chair on the opposite side of Daniel, sat down and made himself comfortable. He was wearing an expensive white jacket, black shirt under it, black trousers and shoes. There was a sight of red over his face- must have been the wonder of cold outside. "Not even a 'hello'? You never change, Daniel." Young man responded to his acquaintance. He began rubbing his hands together to shake off some of that nasty cold feeling he picked up on his way here- it was not exactly his standard route so it took some time to find the exact location of this 'fine establishment'. While he was getting comfortable and warm in his chair waiter approached the table.
"Good evening, sir." He greeted. A man in his late twenties. Working as a waiter? Perhaps Blue Candle pays well- it is a location where many VIPs relax and unwind.
"Evening. Coffee, please." Young man responded. He received a nod from the waiter who turned back to get the warm drink. Not big on coffee, but it somehow magically tastes better than normal during low temperatures.
Young man crossed his legs and looked at Daniel. "Okay, you managed to drag me all the way up here. What's up?" He asked.

"Hehe, I'll take that as a 'yes'." Daniel responded referring to his previously asked question. Judging by person's question it was clear Daniel was one to invite them in here. They did ask for the reason, too. Daniel reached for a small backpack laying by his feet, lifted it and began rummaging through it. He pulled out a black folder and placed the backpack by the feet again. It was a fancy-looking folder; pitch-black cover with a red emblem resembling a butterfly wing in the center of the cover. There appeared to be nothing else but the emblem on it- no words or letters explaining the source. Daniel simply tossed the folder on the other side of the table and returned to his drink.
"Little bird... or little butterfly told me Glacies is back and having a party. All you gotta know is in there- so someone could slip in, break their little party up and leave with some large pockets." Daniel said as he vaguely explained the goal stated inside the folder. He took another sip of his drink while the person on the other side was reading carefully which was slightly... just slightly getting on Daniel's nerves. "Easy in- easy out. What do ya say, Alex? Care for a midnight dance with our old friends?" Daniel inquired of the young man. Alex should have finished reading the documents by now- there was no information stating on who the source was or who was requiring the ask to be completed, but Daniel already seemed certain all information were true and that there was little to worry about.

The way Daniel described it it did not sound as interesting; he has a habit of 'simplifying' mission information and briefings for himself, but it does not sound so well in the ears of others. Alex's interest peaked the moment he set his eyes on the folder's content. Dealing with Glacies was never a simple or straightforward feat- there was always an ace up their sleeve. No, there would be a dozen aces in both sleeves- they have a whole deck of aces in their sleeves. No matter the win there was always some plot twist with them in the end. That was why organizations set on bringing them to justice often use unconventional methods- one of those would be sending Daniel in who is not exactly a police officer or a soldier, but has some... 'talents'. Alex has some qualities like Daniel so he is often a person to hang around and receive 50% of the pay once mission is complete.
One of the high-tier members of Glacies, Jim Costa, is, supposedly, among the crew described in the mission in the folder. Address of their warehouse was confirmed and there are supposed to be around dozen men inside- mostly low-tier. Jim is known for his unethical ways of combat- going as far as giving chemical modifications to Bakugans to enhance their combat abilities at the cost of their mental health and internal organ deterioration. Warehouse is supposed to contain high-tech weaponry they were smuggling. Objectives are understandable- arrest Jim and confiscate the weaponry until the 'responsible squadron' arrives and picks them up. Not the first time Alex did that kind of mission.
"Dozen men or so..." Alex muttered as he placed the folder back on the table. "Seems simple enough- five grand for just this?" Alex said thinking about the reward. Of course, they were going to split it, but it was still a good one.
"Alright, I'll bite. What's the plan?" He asked.

Once Alex had agreed to go along with Daniel's little pursuit a piece of map was presented on the table as well. It appeared to be a map of Miami and several pictures were attached to the map. There was a red circle marking the area east of First Miami Presbyterian Church; it appears to be back to back with the church, but there are no noticeable markings into what was located there. Daniel reached with his left hand and put his index finger over one of the pictures attached to the map. Picture was showing a picture of what seemed to be a warehouse. Quality of the picture was splendid- one could see individual parts of the warehouse in high detail. Then he moved his finger across the other ones revealing various perspectives of the warehouse giving off possible entrances for someone who would like to slip in. There were several pictures of people- several males who were, according to Daniel's source, members of Glacies.
"Plenty of windows over there- not too hard to tell what my plan is." Daniel responded before pointing his index finger at the picture of the eastern side of the warehouse where one could spot three windows. Eastern side was facing area with no buildings from where a reasonable assault might be commenced without Glacies noticing- not in normal circumstances that is. "I'll use a 'Cloak' ability to keep you hidden. Then all I've gotta do is keep myself all nice and stealthy until we reach the wall. Slide in through the windows- that's the easy part. Then knock as many as you can out asap. Should be smooth sailing after that." Daniel briefly explained his plan of attack.
Daniel's Bakugan can use a card which grants invisibility to either the 'caster' or someone else. Since ability has a bit of a coldown it is ineffective to wait for it to drop so one may cast it again. Due to that Alex could be covered and Daniel, who is pretty stealthy on his own, could follow without using any abilities. "They've settled down and started making contacts so their entire focus won't be on defense making this a bit easier- if you don't mess up. It goes down tonight- 1 AM."

"Seems we've got work cut out for us and... what the hell do you mean me screwing up?" Alex responded to Daniel's explanations. This was merely one of Daniel's indirect banters when it came working for Alex. Daniel was more experienced in this type of thing- Alex was not a sneaking type so, as a result, his actions would sometimes harm Daniel's stealth. Such as, accidentally, knocking over an item off a box while hiding and making a lot of noise. It happened only twice, but Daniel did have a sadistic urge of milking those events out for as long as he could. "I wonder how long you'd stay alive without a tank watching your rear." He pointed out in annoyance. Though, his frustration was exactly what Daniel wants. Every. Time.
"Aaaanyways..." Alex sighed to change away from the topic as he reached for the left pocket on his jacket and pulled out a white Bakugan orb. He placed it on the table just before it opened up. "*cough*... that was rather stuffy...*cough*" Male voice of relief came from the orb as it rolled over the table few times. "Sorry about that." Alex apologized to the Bakugan. Bakugan was giving off a shiny glint all over its surfaces- Alex must have been giving it quite a scrub to keep it nice and clean; doubtful any Bakugan truly appreciates that treatment.
"It's still Costa we're talking about. Are you sure you're fine with it? You know things he does better than I do." Alex inquired. He did not seem to oppose the task, but it was in his best intentions to know Daniel was ready- he was the type to easily accept tasks. It was painted as overconfidence in Alex's book.

Daniel reached for his Bakupack and pulled out a Bakugan orb; body colored in light-blue with three dark-blue stripes over the top. It did not look shiny or fancy like Alex's Bakugan, but it certainly had a distinct level of detail to it. Daniel released it on the table and it rolled over to Alex's Bakugan before opening up. Two Bakugans began conversing in, what seemed, like some sort of foreign language with a rough dialect; it did not seem like something humanity would use for their conversations so it was probably a form of Bakugan dialect. While most Bakugans can speak in languages humanity uses some of them still seem to use languages foreign to human kind. Daniel took another sip of the drink and crossed his arms focusing his gaze towards Alex.
"Costa has been out for quite a while- for me he is the prioritized target, not what he is smuggling. As for the small fries accompanying him they can kill themselves for all I care. Costa can't be allowed to freely walk around. Intel is telling me cargo he's smuggling is quite a deal; lots of zeros involved. We put him out of the work and confiscate the cargo; no more atrocities Glacies can throw our way and a massive dent in their economy." Daniel explained his priorities and thoughts on the mission. To target one who belongs among highest positions, logically, should be a priority, but the cargo has its own reasons for being a priority. While weaker brawlers accompanying the target are numerous their strength is far from the point where they may pose a threat. Daniel's priority implies he would be giving everything he has to stop the target even if it means destroying the cargo that should be confiscated which, as a result, would lower the pay for the mission.
"Would you look at the time- almost 9 PM. All this sitting and yapping got me numb- a short 4-hour stroll to Miami would do wonders for my back." Daniel said with a dropped hint. He grabbed the folder he presented earlier, folded the map and placed it inside the folder and all that inside the backpack. He placed his notebook inside the backpack as well, put seven coins on the table and stood up. "Up for a walk?" He invited Alex.

"He sure didn't bother answering my question. I'll take that as a 'yes'." Alex thought. He nodded at Daniel's question. Just about when he intended to stand up the waiter came back with the coffee he ordered. Such conveniently inconvenient timing. Alex could sense the heat of that beautiful brown essence coming from the cup, but he knew the time for departure was nigh and waiting for it to cool down was not going to do it. He placed few coins on the table as well and offered the waiter an awkward smile. "Uh... thanks. Gotta rush so... uh... you can take it." He said to the waiter who merely smiled back with a swift response. "How generous of you, Mr. Alex. I will take you up on that offer. Have a wonderful evening." He responded and then left back to the staff room with that cup. "Hehe, you too m...an... How did he know my name? Nevermind."
Alex picked up his Bakugan orb and placed it in the pocket without closing the pocket so the Bakugan could observe the outside and slide back in if it became too cold. Daniel's Bakugan jumped on its own and landed on Daniel's shoulder. Two of them headed out of the warm and cozy bar into the frigid streets of their sleepless city. The difference in temperature struck across their faces as Alex put a scarf over his. They walked through the city without saying a word for a few minutes- it was painfully cold; it was painful to talk in that temperature. Is Daniel seriously going to drag him ALL the way to Miami through this temperature by foot? Certainly, they could use a taxi or a bus. Alex stopped by a bakery to buy himself a warm sandwich as his mouth felt like polar bear's winter den.
To break the ice... so to speak... Alex turned towards Daniel attempting to start a normal conversation- something two of them do not often have. "Haven't heard from Zenovia in a while- how about you?" He inquired.

"Talked to her yesterday- obstinate and noisy as usual." Daniel responded. As the two began to talk Daniel reached under the jacket and drew, what appeared as, an expensive gauntlet colored in pretty silver and engravings of abstract nature. He placed the gauntlet on his right arm attaching it to the arm and parts of the gauntlet flashed. Light revealed the central part- rectangular slot where ability cards are placed for usage. On each side of the gauntlet were four spherical slots which appeared to have a purpose of storing something, but there was no apparent indication as to what that 'something' could be. On the front part of the gauntlet's surface- just about 2 or 3 centimeters ahead of the slot for ability card- there was a spherical slot significantly larger in size than the eight slots on the sides. Purpose behind the slot was not apparent. Daniel stretched his arm checking if gauntlet was placed correctly upon which he continued to converse with Alex on the topic.
"Can't deny her expertise though- upgraded this old thing." Daniel said as he showed off the gauntlet to Alex. "Perhaps you should visit her- she might have a stealth gem or two for you." Daniel suggested in sarcastic manner. He reached inside the jacket, drew a single ability card with a green moon emblem on its back and placed it inside the ability socket. Daniel's Bakugan was sitting, in its orb form, on his right shoulder as it began to radiate in faint green. Unbeknown to Alex it was a rare ability card he purchased from a certain acquaintance- False Time. Ability distorts perspective of time for up to six creatures selected by the caster giving them a perspective of time passing thrice quicker than normal- that should give them an wonderful illusion so they would not need to bother with these conversations. Well, Daniel did not feel like talking.

"Haha, maaaaybe you should give Maria a little break. After all, she's been nothing but helpful for these past several years, hasn't she? She's been looking out for us." Alex commented on Daniel's first response. It was quite like Daniel to criticize and praise one person at the same time which didn't bother Alex, but this person they were on about was a specific case when it came to that; Alex low-key admired the named 'Zenovia' and would prefer to leave criticism aside. After all, in a world full of 'normals' there are not many who will look out for a family of monsters like theirs. The world was calm in its own ways, but it did not lack cruelty towards those who were different. If, today, man criticizes, insults and raises his hand on another man because of differences in color of their skin then any important differences ought to be hidden for your own sake and survival.
Alex took a glance at Daniel's nifty device. "Oh, I have one of those." He said in response. His hand reached for inside the jacket as he drew a gauntlet of his own- colored in light-gray; eight little spherical slots accompanied by a larger one and then a card a slot. Daniel's had some notable differences in its design- first, there were all those engravings and the bottom part which was attached to Daniel's arm was slightly bulkier than Alex's. From Alex's field of vision there was a round closed hatch on the named part. "What did she change about it? Surely, not just fashion." Alex remarked.

With every passing step and every said word hours began to slip away. The illusion of time came across Daniel, Alex and their Bakugans. They were merely fifteen minutes away from their targeted location. One could easily see the water from where they were right now- Daniel's plan was to come from the direction of shops- from east towards the warehouse and then break in through the windows. With their positioning at that particular time it was not the easiest task to pull off, but nothing impossible either. Though, he was playing against the odds in that one to say the least.
"Didn't mean to offend..." Sigh escaped Daniel's lips.
Daniel showed his gauntlet again for Alex to inspect. "A bit of fashion and a bit of utility." He moved his left hand below the gauntlet to where the bulkier part was pointing his finger at the hatch that even Alex noticed. He then moved his left hand and turned the right arm aside so Alex could see the other side of the same bulky part- there was another hatch which made a total of two. "Looks good, works well- but I can't spoil all the spicy details before the main show." He remarked at Alex's curiosity about the new utilities of the upgraded gauntlet. Daniel intended to show it off to Alex anyways when they would arrive inside the warehouse; combat was inevitable, in Daniel's eyes, regardless of how good their stealth might be. There was no way they could take out a dozen of men with high probability of their Bakugans being on watch as well. And taking out, approximately, a dozen of Bakugans was not walk in a park.
"Hmm... I wonder what Glacies has in store for us- they were easily spotted... too easily..." Daniel thought.
Fifteen minutes later...
Two young men walked past many buildings to gain as much cover as possible before reaching the target location. They reached the shops on the east side of the warehouse from where they could peacefully observe the target without being spotted, but reaching it from that point was an issue since there was a clearing between their location and the target. At that point Daniel reached for something inside his jacket again- he drew a single ability card and placed it inside the gauntlet as a faint purple glow followed on surface of his Bakugan's orb. "You two- head for the eastern wall. Now, move it!" Daniel whispered to Alex and his Bakugan. "Lougel, go for it!" He ordered to the Bakugan on his shoulder. With that card Daniel placed came in full effect- Cloak of Shadows. It is a rare card which is hard to come by in the card shops- it allows one to cast invisibility on several targets excluding themselves and if another ability, which gives 'invisibility' effect, is played while CoS is in effect second ability will activate and CoS will be canceled.

Odd feeling overcame Alex. A spark of nostalgia could be found in it- he knew exactly what was used on him since it was not the first time. He shook that feeling off and moved out of the cover now he and his Bakugan completely invisible to naked eye. Alex sprinted forward jumping over numerous obstacles in his way- benches, lower walls and fences. Within one minute of running he reached the eastern wall of the warehouse. He slowed down and walked right to the wall seeing the windows shown in pictures back at the bar. That part seemed easy enough- using rare cards was a dirty trick for solving all one's problems in this world, but it certainly was not a cheap one. Rare cards are expensive as hell, but working in Daniel's field can probably give him a free one every now and then. Lucky bastard.
Daniel appeared behind Alex not long after- Alex could not even notice until he turned around to look for him. While being a sassy bastard Alex did not need abilities to make himself 'invisible'. He was quick on his feet, silent, precise and perceptive. Though, it comes in handy for Alex who cannot pull of stealth across a clear field like him. Alex glanced at the right window and nodded to Daniel- there were no boxes, stairs or ladders so he had to make use of tinniest bits of surface walls had to offer. Unfortunately, all the fancy groups did not give Daniel any 'fly' cards for two of them to exploit. Any brick out of place, vent, pipe and ledge helped with the task at hand as Alex, slowly but surely, climbed up to the right window giving a short glance inside.
"Bingo." He whispered.
On the other side of the window boxes were piled up in convenient fashion. Once he enters he may hide behind the boxes so he is not spotted so easily on the high ground. He turned towards Daniel giving him thumbs up for the go. Then he placed his left palm against the glass window- seconds later faint red glow came across the window as the glass began to melt. "Sure feels good to be a monster right now." He remarked in his head. Once all of the glass successfully melted off he slipped in and behind the boxes leaning towards left so he could see further. There were several people inside. He could see two inspecting crates down below, two patrolling and three guarding the main gate. From that point he could not see the rest- Jim Costa was nowhere in sight. It was important to learn all of their locations in the area so there would be no surprise attacks.

It took Daniel merely a moment to get his hands on every imperfection of the wall and use it to reach the window in record time. His training and figure made it a lot easier for nimble movement people like Alex could not pull off as easily. Once he reached the window he immediately went behind the boxes where Alex was taking in the 'scenery' criminals so kindly prepared for them. There were seven people in his sights; Costa was nowhere in sight so there were probably few of them in other sections of the warehouse. Not being able to see them was going to add up numbers to the challenge of the endeavor. Those examining the boxes and patrolling were not paying attention to this particular section and as their backs completely turned Daniel slipped away from the boxes he was hiding behind and moved towards one of the boxes one of the patrol members seemed to go near quite often and where field of vision was conveniently blocked away from the others. Daniel swiftly reached for left pocket of his jacket and pulled out, what seemed like, a small white napkin.
Daniel's Bakugan, Lougel, leaped off Daniel's shoulder and onto the box they were hiding behind. In orb form it would be difficult to notice him there as the boxes were rather large. Step by step their target made his way to the box and behind it- Daniel almost in his sight. Bakugan orb leaped off the box and gently hit the man in the neck stealing away his attention.
"W-What...?" He muttered. Since orb moved right away he did not react in time to see what hit him. "Could be a cockroach? Ugh... this place is full of 'em... hate those things." Man said as he looked around, creeped out by whatever touched him. As his head turned towards the eastern side of the building he found his neck caught from behind and his mouth covered with a napkin. Unable to scream or resist he began to struggle and wiggle out of the grasp, but it was a futile attempt as his eyes closed and limbs loosened. Daniel grabbed the unconscious man under his arms and pulled him behind the box. Lougel began to move across the room to the area where other guard was patrolling. Navigating through the room full of crates and boxes Daniel was able to reach the northern part of the room without being detected.
"I sense a Bakugan- on the guy." Lougel whispered.
"Can you pinpoint?" Daniel inquired. As he did a faint red glow appeared on his left palm and there formed a small symbol of dog's jaw.
"Left pocket in the trousers." Lougel silently informed.
"Alright. Do your thing." Daniel moved behind a box that was conveniently placed for an ambush once that guard decides to show his face again. Lougel leaped onto the box to perform the same trick from before. Daniel pulled out the napkin again and crouched by the box. While waiting he caught a glimpse of several things. "Huh? Rosemarie?" Daniel wondered tempted to reach the crate's content. However, there was simply no time for such action as the guard appeared right near them. The same trick- Lougel struck guard's neck and swiftly bounced off stealing away the attention. Daniel's right hand went for guard's mouth and nose with the napkin and left arm went for the left pocket causing a mild shock to be released on impact. Guard's struggle was slightly more intense than of the previous one as Daniel could not use both arms, but it did not last long. Impact on the left pocket forcefully caused whatever Bakugan was inside to go into artificially-induced sleep from which it could not awaken for some time- circa 30 minutes. Emblem of dog's jaw on Daniel's palm disappeared after using the ability.
Once two were down Daniel turned towards the crate he found and began inspecting it out of curiosity. His hand reached for the small box with the syringe mark on it and grabbed it along with several electrical components he could find on the ground. He placed all of those in his backpack. He was about to reach for the document about Azure Rosemarie, but then...

Daniel abandoned primary cover to ambush the patrol and reduce the weight on their shoulders. First ambush was fairly easy to pull off with all the extra cover, but the second one with Bakugan involved was risky. Luckily, it ended pretty well. Once the first patrol member was taken care of Alex slid down and began sneaking around the crates targeting those inspecting boxes and crates around the center of the room. One of them moved closer to the southern wall and was facing the area Alex would come from if he moved any closer. "Ah... can't go that way." He thought. There was no way he could sneak up to the guy right from the front. He placed his Bakugan on one of the crates- orb jumped from lower crate to a higher one. Hopefully, that would grant better vantage point.
"He's carrying items- when I tell you rush behind the other crate." Bakugan whispered.
Alex nodded and crouched setting his sights on the crates he was going to go for. All he needed was a signal and he was good to go. His plans, however, were not going to be fulfilled as easily as he planned. "Damn it!" Bakugan whispered bitterly.
"What? He gone yet?" Alex whispered back tempted to take a peek.
"We've got our hands full, Alex..." Bakugan whispered as he stared off into the distance where the gate to the warehouse was. There was a man entering the warehouse accompanied by two men. Two guards keeping watch on the gate abandoned their positions to join the man. As he moved forward two men examining the boxes were still in their positions doing what they were doing the entire time. Man in the middle... that was the target they were supposed to seize, but... something was wrong.

Man wearing a suit entered the building accompanied by two guards. Two others, watching the gate, accompanied him immediately when he entered. He made several steps and took a swift glance across the main room seeing two of his people taking care of boxes and crates. He closed his eyes for a brief moment and smirked confidently letting out a faint laugh and started playing with his own hair- almost excited as to what he was about to do. He had the building under absolute control- attempts of hiding away and taking everyone out with stealth was not going to bear fruit. He merely allowed these little rats to sneak into the building so it would make it twice as difficult to escape once shower of bullets cuts their only escape routes off. He held a red Bakugan orb in his right hand and casually dropped it on the ground causing crimson flash of light to be released and a giant beast to be unleashed from its orb form.
"How rude of us not to greet our guests. Please, do accept our deepest apologies and our warmest welcomes. Saurus?" Jim shouted with a confident tone in his voice; there was no doubt that two unwelcome guests could hear him. Two men examining the boxes picked up their Bakugans and quickly moved to Jim ready to fight whoever was hiding around. They, apparently, had no clue there was an attack going on. Jim must have used one of his many useful tools to detect the intruders himself.
"Yes, boss!" Saurus shouted in excitement with a rough and deep voice.
"Double Burst!" Jim said- with a single swift move he grabbed a card out of his pocket and placed it in the card slot on his gauntlet activating the ability. Saurus quickly reconfigured his arm into the double-barreled cannon and pointed in Daniel's general direction before firing both barrels at the same time releasing two super-charged shells that would, upon impact, explode and release a burst of flames catching anyone in a 20-meter radius on fire as if they were covered in gasoline.
