I deleted the past thread because these stories were allegedly a hoax, and I didn't want to feed you incorrect information. I'm going to share a couple of examples with you to encourage you not to believe any naysayers who would try to tell you otherwise.
Four people were robbed at the University of Maryland College Park campus. Three of them were playing Pokemon Go. Their heads were in their phones instead of in their surrounding area.
A 15-year old girl was struck by a car while she was stupidly crossing a major highway during rush hour all because she was too busy paying attention to her phone.
A man was playing the game while driving and ran into a tree.
Two men plummeted down a 90-foot ocean cliff because they were too enthralled with the game to not watch where they were going.
A man was stabbed after approaching a stranger, wondering if there was a fellow player nearby. (Wait for it...he chose not to go to the hospital immediately.)
For those of you that are playing this game, I have a very useful pro strat or you. Don't let this game suck away your common sense. Please.
Don't go into any unfamiliar areas just because there's a Pokemon over there. Don't play the game while driving. Stay within eyes' reach. Watch where you're going. Be wary of strangers. Look both ways before crossing the street.
I know it seems like we're smart enough to understand this simple instruction, but we're apparently too stupid to actually think. This is why this stuff is happening.
I better not see any of you in the headlines, so you'd better not do anything that would compromise your safety. Stay smart, and be vigilant. You never know what's around the corner.
