Greetings to everyone here on WC. This is one of the main admins - Damian, Skull, Noland, Zane, or whatever nickname you have for me. I posted a thread a while ago saying that we needed to talk about some things. Many of them included changes that we needed to make in the short and long-term, and with your help - thanks to the many suggestions and feedback that were given in that thread, numerous changes were made to how this site functions across the board.
Before I formally lay out everything that I've done, I wanted to explain the reasoning behind the movement of the board I'm posting in now. Many of you will recognize that this was originally a sub-board placed in the rules and information board. That will no longer be the case. I wanted it to be easier to get to this thread so you can have quicker access to all of the important updates that happens here.
With that said, here's everything that has happened:
- The Data Center has been migrated from Battle Net. This board will be a compilation of informative material such as the Bakugan and cards list, evolution/upgrade challenges, etc.
- The Official Roleplay board has been moved out of the battle areas into the open.
- The General Roleplay board has been moved out of the general board into the open.
- The Team Area board has been moved out of the world rankings board into the open.
- Character profiles have gone through drastic changes. Your options have been expanded greatly to be more in line with other roleplay sites. Just to briefly talk about some of them, your character's race can be customized, sexual orientation can be specified, and areas like personality and appearance will require more than just "look at the profile picture" or "neutral, good, or bad." A moderator will now have to approve the profile.
- You will no longer be able to see Bakupacks that are not tied to your account. The only Bakupack non-staff members will see is the one they made.
- The Bakugan Inventory has been overhauled and replaced with a collection of Bakugan from the series. In addition to that, there are now Bakugan in existence that are considered illegal such as the Legendary Soldiers, Doom Beings, and even some of the canon Bakugan from the plot such as Dante and Noland's Drago; they will all have special effects, but they cannot be used until a certain brawler rank has been reached.
- The cards in the card inventory have been altered. Some were also added.
- The support weapon inventory has been removed from the site entirely.
- Your brawler ranks have been reset (To the person who thought it was a problem, that doesn't happen on accident. It was done on purpose.). They will now be determined by Honor Points. Full information on ranks and how honor points are calculated are provided in the Data Center.
- Bakugan will now start with 500G power and will work their way up to the maximum power level of 1200G. (Canons in the plotline are exempt from this change.)
- Cards have been changed considerably from how they used to work:
> You can no longer pay to have up to 3 effects on a card. The maximum is 2 effects.
> Premium effects have been introduced. Some of the more powerful effects that were used in the past have been relegated to this and will require payment to be placed on one of your cards. Also, there can only be one premium effect on your card.
> Copyrighted effects are still here, but there are some changes you need to be aware of. If there is an effect on a card that you can copyright, you need to pay $300 so that it can be registered on the copyrighted effects list, giving you full ownership. If you choose to make the effect and don't offer payment, I will not protect it if someone else in the future makes it without knowing who it belongs to. This does not mean that you can steal all of my effects if I hadn't made it yet; I will protect the copyrighted effects that have already been established. It is when you make them and don't pay for them that I will wash my hands of it.
> If you get permission from a copyright holder to make their effect, you will pay them for it.
> Each card will belong to a different class. White, Blue, Green, Red, and Purple are the different card classes that are available. More information on what they are and how they function is available in the Data Center.
> I modified the card creation template so that there are preset choices for when the card is actually played. You can no longer cheese the system by putting "anytime" in that section. You must select from the choices I have given you.
> You must select an attribute for the cards that you're making. You can no longer say that they can be used for any attribute unless the card's effect(s) are more in line with the cards in the card inventory like Ability Breaker. If I see you do what we were doing before, I will deny it. I promise.
> Forbidden abilities have been added, but they cannot be used until a certain milestone has been passed. Plans for forbidden gate cards are also in the works.
- Support weapons have been overhauled. They are now separated into various categories and will function differently depending on what it is. Maxus and Colossus Bakugan, formations that have been received a long-time ban on this site, are now available to use upon meeting a certain rank. (Posting in the support weapon board has been disabled.)
- The life gauge amount will go unchanged for the most part, but all ranked brawls will use 1000 life gauge points at all times unless stated otherwise.
- I have borrowed from BakuTech and implemented special shooting skills. You will use a familiar value from the past, HSP, or Holo-Sector Points, to put them into effect. More information on what they are and how they work will be available in the Data Center. (The "Bonds" idea that someone suggested will be implemented soon...maybe...I don't know?)
- Some effects have been nerfed and buffed. (I expect the veterans to fully understand what these changes mean for you.)
> The popular "use an effect from your Bakupack" effect has been placed in the same limit as copying/reusing effects.
> Special counters such as protecting now has its own official limitation.
> Preventions now share one limit across the board. Before, there were two separate limitations that governed two different areas of preventing. That's no longer the case.
> If your power level is at 0G and you remain there at the end of your turn, you are automatically defeated for that round. The only exception to this is if you're using an "advantage" effect. Because of this, decreasing your opponent's power level to 0 will not only be a premium effect, but it is worthy of being considered a Red Class effect. (Keeping your opponent's power level at 0 is no longer a legal effect, even on forbidden abilities.)
> Continuous G power changes must be at least half of the user's maximum potential for power changes in order to be considered legal. What this means is that if your Bakugan can increase their power level by 600G, then your continuous power changes cannot be any more than 300G.
Plans for the near future:
- There are plans to modify the battle arenas so there's variation in each location.
- Team-related bonuses will be posted in the near future, making being apart of a team more meaningful.
- Season 1 Battle System...maybe?
- More Events
That's all I have for now. If you have any comments or suggestions, or if I was clumsy and missed something I should've addressed, feel free to leave a comment below. If you have any further comments, leave them in the comments and suggestions board. I hope the changes that were made are pleasing to all of you and, hopefully, we'll be better off for them.
