Following the Annapolis Mall incident, Fabia and Jenna were taken to the hospital. The Resistors would've liked to patronize Eden, but they can't be trusted right now. The D.C. hospital will have to do for now. Both of them were in the same room, so it was very convenient for everyone to keep track of their condition without having to go back and forth.
Fabia regained consciousness around three hours after Noland fought Mother Bowen. She was moaning from all of the pain she was still feeling.
"..." Fabia looked to her left to find Rafe and Serena hanging out at the chairs across from her. Serena was studying some tome while Rafe was reading a magazine about brawlers from Earth. "...Serena..."

"Thank goodness... I thought we'd stuck here forever," Serena sighed with some relief. "I don't know if you remember, but you were rescued by one of the Legendary Soldiers. You probably still feel the severe emotional pain that this Father Lyles put you through... I know you'd rather not talk about it...and this is probably a dumb question to ask, but...are you going to be okay?"
Rafe covered his face with the magazine. He was too embarrassed to be seen at the moment. He looked like he was weary of what Fabia might say in regards to the exchange with Mother Bowen. Will he get asked about what Bowen tried to get him to say? He hoped not...

"...I remember everything I saw and felt..." Fabia clarified. "And...no...I don't think so... I thought I was moving on from that... I thought I was slowly starting to forgive Emperor Barodius and the Gundalians... I lived through it again...several times... Never-ending pain... I wasn't strong enough to save him..."
"Okay," Serena halted as she placed a hand up. "Clearly, this was above the normal traumatic incidents. We'll deal with this one step at a time, but for now, let's just not talk about anything sensitive."
"...Did anyone get Bowen?" Fabia wanted to know.

Serena stepped on Rafe's foot to get him to stop reading the magazine. Rafe didn't flinch or do anything that would hint at him feeling pain, but he knew what she wanted him to do: talk.
"The Redeemer held her off long enough for me to pin her, but...she was teleported away before Queen Serena could kill her. A similar situation happened with Father Lyles as well," Rafe briefly explained. "They're in the wind... Two people were injured by Bowen, and the girl on the other side had something similar to your case happen, but that was it. Neither of them hurt, kidnapped, or killed anyone else..."
"..."
"...Aranaut lost his memory as a result of the attack..." Rafe lamented. "...That's all I know..."

"Oh..." Fabia sighed in disappointment. It was sounding like she wanted him to address something else...
"...What you and Bowen were talking about... It's bothering me a little..." Fabia wanted to address. "I didn't really understand what she asked you, but you said you placed your own honor above your sister and I... I'm not interested in knowing why you did that... I just want to know what was so important that you had to stay silent about it..."
"You did what?" Serena asked Rafe with her head almost turned sideways.

"..." Rafe was completely silent. He was thinking about excusing himself from the room.
"I didn't get to watch that part..." Serena started. "I don't think you did this, but I have to ask for my own conscience. Did you allow this to happen to preserve your honor?"
"...Mother Bowen took the Princess even after she gave me permission to volunteer myself to go in her place. She wasn't sincere in anything she said. My response to what the Princess is bringing up wouldn't have mattered in the situation since she would've been taken anyway. She only asked me that so I could lose my powers," Rafe clarified.
"...So it was a situation where you'd have to lie?"
"...Yes..." Rafe reluctantly answered. "...And it was also something that if I answered truthfully, I'd have lost my powers anyway. So I kept my mouth shut."

What Rafe said was all Fabia needed to hear to piece the puzzle together. Her eyes widened in shock, because she found out exactly what Rafe didn't want to say. A princess and her knight being a lovely sight? There was hardly any other conclusion to be drawn here...
"...I think I understand what happened now..." Fabia realized.
"I don't understand anything... What's going on here?" Serena interjected.
"...Rafe...you can tell her... It's okay..."

"..."
"...I can tell by the look on your face... You're not going to tell me, are you?" Serena knew.
"...I can't..." Rafe refused.
"You can... Yes you can..."
"No, I can't. This is the worst possible time for me to say that."
"Your power was put at risk because of this. If you don't say it now, that's going to hang over your head. What if something like this happens again?"
"...That's exactly why I'm not saying it... What if this does happen again, and I have what I'm thinking on my mind? That'll ruin me, and Lyles gets a kick out of exploiting that. I won't allow it."
"Please..."
"No... Even if you ordered me, I'm not doing it. With all due respect, that's the end of that." Rafe got up from his chair and walked out of the room. He couldn't be in there anymore.

On the other side of the curtain, Jenna was starting to regain consciousness. She didn't bother looking around for a couple of seconds. It took her a while to realize that she was in the hospital.
"...I'm alive...? Shame..." Jenna sighed. "How many times will this happen to me until they let me rest in peace? I can't take anymore..."
She then looked up and saw that someone had heard everything that she just said. She was embarrassed...
"Allen...?" Jenna noticed with a lot of shock. "You... I'm sorry... I didn't know you were there..."

Allen was dozing off on a chair when Jenna woke up. In his ball form, Gorem tapped his head to get him to wake up. "Yeah?" Allen quickly answered before seeing that Jenna had woken up.
"She's awake," Gorem told him anyway.
"I can see that... I can. Believe me," Allen insisted. "Anyway, I, uh, didn't see anyone else come in for you. From what I heard Markus tell me, you seemed like you could use some company. We don't know each other that well, but I thought you could use a friend to be here waiting for you."

"Friend...?" Jenna wasn't accustomed to that term nor was she familiar with having any of them. It was...a different feeling to have that said to her. "That word is so foreign to me... I'm even a little indifferent to it after all these years of not knowing what a home even feels like, but...for some reason, there's this pain inside of me that'll make me accept anything right now..."
A tear started rolling down her cheek after she mentioned the said pain. Like Fabia, Jenna was forced to live through her painful memories in an endless loop. It was too much for her to handle as one would probably conclude from how she acted when Lyles brought her out.
"Geos didn't come to help me either. I called him when those guys came to nab me, and he did nothing," Jenna criticized with a noticeable voice crack.

Allen had to think about what he was going to say. It was visibly apparent to him as to why Geos didn't help her, but she probably didn't know about that.
"That light her necklace had before Hydranoid cleaned house isn't there. Maybe it's like when Bakugan gray out," Allen thought to himself. He then decided to offer his wise input before he wastes too much time.
"I'm no expert on Geos, but when it comes to Bakugan, they turn gray whenever they get damaged too much. They won't respond until they get their strength back," Allen figured. "Of course, I don't know if he came to after the fight with Hydranoid, so I could be saying that for nothing. Either way, it sounds like you've been through a lot. I understand if you want to be alone after all this, but - if you want to accept me - I could help you get through this."

"...Alright...but just tell me one thing first," Jenna responded before requesting something of him. "You seem nice, but...I just can't ignore how many times guys wanted to 'help' me when all they really wanted was to get with me. If you're like that, I'm not gonna judge you, but...I just want to be upfront about this... I've just been let down way too many times..."

"Is she like a clone of Alana or something? I can remember Alana complaining about the same thing when she was just learning how to brawl... Why am I having conversations with myself now? I wasn't given these lines before..." Allen thought about before coming back to reality.
"...They got him too..." Gorem thought when looking at him.
"...Before I met Noland, I was very self-conscious about my...eyesight. A lot of people pitied me for it and thought they should feel sorry for me," Allen kept brief, because he doesn't like talking about it too much. "Long story short, they never wanted me around to be actual friends. They only did it because they felt like I deserved it for having rotten luck. Noland didn't do that. He only saw me as a rival and friend, but - most importantly - he saw me as a person."
"I don't aim to change how you feel, and I certainly don't want my motivation of helping people to boil down to whether or not I have a crush on them. I just see it as a person helping another person because they feel led to, not to get something out of it. Noland and Alana showed me that. I feel like I could be that person for you."

Jenna was fascinated by that short story. This is information that the general public doesn't even know about. Plus...it was amazing to know just how much of a bond there is with those three.
"...Wow..." Jenna reacted. "...Well then. I think so too..." Jenna gave a warm smile to her acceptance of Allen. She genuinely felt happy that someone wanted to be there for her. She wiped the tear from her eye from when she almost cried after the initial expression of her feelings.
"The only thing is...I really don't know where to start," Jenna admitted.
