BAKUCORES The root of the problem comes from the rules and instructions. Then the lack of clarity carries through into the example battle. All I personally got when reading the rules is that there's this nifty button that pertains to bakucores, and there's a button for it too. The example battle doesn't help too much either as it only uses the button, and it is not consistently used between the two example characters. There is no further mention of bakucores, like usage of cores obtained from the shop, when cores are used in battle, and I'm sure there are more that people are still wondering about.
BUTTON BAKUCORE Myself and some other users are not all into bakucore button that pops out a random number. It is a cool mechanic, but not everyone enjoys leaving their fate to luck. At the very least, bump down the max of 10 to something else. Just utilizing the store cores would be the more favorable.
BATTLE PHASES As demonstrated by Atom and Grimm, the battle phases can go smoothly should the two brawlers know what to slap down on their brawl post. However, no flip cards were used. There was not much of an opportunity to use them, and energy is always depleted during the brawl phase. Making it possible to pass your turn would be a nice thing worth mentioning. I would also like to note whoever is making the second move has the clear advantage as they know what numbers/effects they are up against. Huge flaw in the battle system right here.
FACTIONS & MORE Aurelus clearly got the short end of the stick. Looking at both the card list and the Aurelus specific bakugans make this painfully clear. Meanwhile, there is Pyrus with almost broken effects in both cards and bakugans. The previous system did not have this problem; it did not have as heavy of an emphasis on factions as this new system. It gave players freedom to craft skills and bakugans that suit them. Right now the system feels very restricted to the real life counterpart of the game. Players are restricted to the cards presented which is a problem for the meta of the system in the long run.
PLAYING FIELDS The new feature of the fields are cool, but it can make battle really one sided. Especially for newer players who do not have a plethora of bakugans of the faction with the boost. Maybe hold onto those field effects for tournaments, but for the time being, it would be best to hold back on the fields.
RULES AND INFORMATION So we've come full circle. There is still much that can be built upon, and to this we can look to the root of it all, the rules and information. There is structure. However, it could be better explained. Take the "How to Play Bakugan" thread for example. It throws a ton of information out, however, there are many gaps within the explanation. Zeno does a good job of smoothing things over (in a second post- more items for fresh new players to read, and the example battle ontop of that) but there are still aspects that could be better explained. The bakucores as mentioned at the beginning of this post, the mechanics of evolution cards, the shifting of phases between players, and I am sure there are more points that could be listed.

I would like to expand on the phase part myself. As I was typing it out (don't do it my way.) I was basing a lot of how to proceed via the example battle. But it was rather annoying to type. (Again it could have been the way I was typing it out.) It comes off rather frustrating for the the one to go first, because not only do they have the disadvantage of having to predict an opponent who gets to respond freely. But they have to do most of the typing. I had to keep the flow going and having to read Atom's side the post made that hard. It was annoying to me because it felt in the end I was guiding the battle to my defeat, more than a fair shake at winning.
Which leads me to probably my biggest problem with this system. This system doesn't work well, unless its real time face to face player interaction. While I may have put a struggle, if both sides have same loaded deck. Who wins and loses is basically who goes second. (Again what Shira said.)

I was going to wait to comment on the faction imbalance since I wanted to use it for myself before commenting; however, based on your response, I get the feeling that you do not fully understand why Pyrus is the best faction in the game. I don't think there's an inherent problem with how the Pyrus cards are made. It's how they can be used that I have a problem with. The cards are only a small part of the problem though. The main issue is a certain Bakugan: Kelion.
This monster is the best Bakugan in the game, and it's not up for debate. Why? Look at it:
Kelion :: 300 B-Power, Damage Rating: 2 Pyrus Kelion's special ability: When this Bakugan opens, if it has lower B-Power than the opposing Bakugan, this gains +500 B-Power and +15 Damage Rating.
When this effect resolves, it has 800B and 17 damage. Let me put this into perspective:
- That's the highest damage rating any base Bakugan can get through an effect. This even exceeds the base damage of any evo in the game.
- That's the highest B-power in the game for non-evo Bakugan. It has more B-power than most of the evos too.
- With support from Might of Cyndeous and Mac, Kelion is capable of beating all Bakugan on the list (yes, that includes all of the evo Bakugan, even the Maximus ones). Remember, this thing will have 17 damage. None of the base Bakugan will touch that number. The only one who will reliably beat this number is Titan Nillious, but you need significant resources to bring it out AND you need to trigger its effect. You can have Kelion ready to go as early as the first round. Your only cost is making sure Kelion's B-power is lower.
- Pyrus battle field and double-strike... Winning a battle with this thing in that environment or status condition inflicts a minimum of 34 damage...and you only have 40 life points. This is a base Bakugan doing this... You are only three points away from it having 20 damage. I wonder what 20 x 2 would equal... Might of Cyndeous and Mac increase damage rating along with their alternate win condition. If it is double-striked or if the Pyrus battle field is active, and Kelion wins, that's a one-shot. This is from a non-evo Bakugan. (On that note, I don't think Whiteout is fair either since you can ramp up damage without paying anything.)
- The randomized damage rating boost... You get 3 or more from that button press, and Kelion is double-striked or in a Pyrus environment, it's over just like that.
- Just consider this for a moment. These are numbers that can be reached easily by certain evos with significant resource investment. The only thing you need to do to reach these numbers with Kelion is to have less B-power... And you might be thinking: just throw in a Bakugan with less or equal power, and it's gone. Except, it's not. Know what I could do? I have a Helix that'll lower my own Bakugan's B-power. I could make Kelion lose on purpose so that the so-called 'counter' stays on the field, and I can then bully the rest of my opponent's team. That's how easy it is to use this thing. You don't need someone like me to come up with that idea; anyone can do it.
- Take everything I just said and think about this. Does any base Bakugan make you play differently than the way Kelion does? Do you worry about what Bakugan you need to bring into battle to combat any base Bakugan the way Kelion makes you? Do you worry about what factions you need to use to have flip cards ready to stop Kelion? Is it viable to have an entire build dedicated to stopping Kelion from ruining the game (I made one)?
So, no, I disagree with the thought that giving the other factions cards with lower costs will improve the balance. With everything I just laid out, there is a valid reason to make sure Pyrus is on your lineup over anything else. There is also a grave concern that if you do not have a way to counter Kelion, you lost the game. This should not be the case. No one Bakugan should have that much influence over the game, and that's why Pyrus is massively overpowered. You MUST address this. Either remove Kelion from the game completely; decrease either the B-power increase and/or the damage rating increase; or increase Kelion's base power level to decrease the likelihood that someone can trigger its effect.
To end this long post, I'm going to give my opinion on two things: the BakuCore button and the faction-specific fields. I don't think any of them should be in the game at all. I don't like luck-based systems; I like having things within my area of control. The only thing that those mechanics will get me to do - should I lose because of them - is to quit the game entirely. They are tools of frustration and do not interest me in the slightest. Again, my opinion.
That is all.

(original post got fudged up but I'm addressing the Creator post.)
First the energy thing. No. Does not help in the long run. Second thing: Helix shield with custom effects. Loops right into Kelion. "Victor decided by Damage Rating." Oh look at that. Kelion is still busted. And look at that. The Kelion player WENT SECOND. Oh look at that Even on the regular field that is still quite the concern.
Your suggested changes do not alter much in balance. Other than now all the factions are getting 0 energy cards. I'm getting Dragon Rulers to Arc V era yugioh vibes. If you know anything about yugioh. Then you know that wasn't good for yugioh in the long run.
