Protecting is basically preventing. It makes it where the opponents whatever does not have an effect.

Can it be played to counter an effect that targets cards instead of the opponents bakugan?

Actually, Protecting is an any effect card, you guys aren't being specific. I need to know what type of protecting you are questioning. Like Protecting from Cards or preventing, I'll need more info to find out what exactly you are refering to.

Protecting your Bakugan is NOT countering and protecting from cards is right?
