Coming in at number 5 is...
Canon War 1Yes, I will be giving titles to all of these events. Remember this title. You will see it again. For now, we will focus on the first major conflict this site had: New Generation, World Fighters vs Soul Takers.
As you might guess, the World Fighers were good and the Soul Takers were evil; HOWEVER, that is only for the PLOT. When it came to the behavior on the site, it was the other way around.
The World Fighters established a tyrannical hold over what people were allowed to use. Regular members were also affected by these policies in addition to the Soul Takers, and we'll be talking about that in-depth here.
Regular members were discriminated against for the most part in that they did not have equal rights as canon members. They could not create Bakugan or Support Weapons with equal strength as canon items, and their cards could not be as powerful either. The issue erupted into an entirely new issue where people were attempting to suggest rules that were completely in favor of one side rather than trying to meet everyone in the middle. An example:
bakugan-generation.proboards.com/thread/671/rules-modificationHere we see a past rule where members were not allowed to take canon Bakugan should they lose it in a battle. It was a necessary rule based on how the plot was being carried out. Let's say that someone fought Noland and actually beat him by 2000G, taking Drago with them. If the climate was the same as it was back then, I'd have to cancel the plotline. These people knew that, and chose to make the threads anyway. That created a rift between canons and members, which led to the start of the first war.
I was Skull, and it was me who made the comments that you see. I want to point out a very important detail about them. At first glance, you will misunderstand what I was referring to by #2 on the first post. Yes, canons SHOULD be powerful; however, I did not support the systematic discrimination against regular members. People felt like they were always at a disadvantage and thought they didn't stand a chance. That was the complete opposite, as many normal members have embarrassed canons back then. The thread creator and many others simply would not see that, which is why we were disgruntled. ...The kid Zane could've been more respectful though, but I guess it can't be helped if he got sick of the back and forth.
The part that I disagreed with was what came next: cheating. Yes, that's what it was. The World Fighters took the site over and began making super overpowered cards. When a Soul Taker or any other member attempted to match this force, they were denied time and time again. If you were not a World Fighter, you got nothing. I have examples.
bakugan-generation.proboards.com/thread/2760/canons-super-op-stuffFrom this thread, you can see what I'm talking about very clearly. They could play a card where if 10 turns pass, they automatically win the brawl. One person could play consecutive fusion abilities where, if the third one is played, he could defeat the enemy Bakugan right then and there. It gets worse. Go in the card shop right now and look up a card called "Miracle Hero." Just typing the name of it pisses me off, because I lost a battle due to that garbage. Thought that was the peak of the issue? Look up "Iron Javelin" in the card shop. Just look at it..and shake your head in disappointment.
And what did they have to say for themselves when they get confronted about it? One came out and said that if we weren't canons, we'd have no problem with it. Ridiculous...
To top it all off, we come to the final point of contention during this war: scripted battles. This one is my favorite.
So I was apparently supposed to lose to Calvin during the final battle of season 1. Guess what happened when I attempted to win? I got warned and banned. Thanks Game Master. ^_^ (We'll be talking about that character later on...)
At the end of it all, what we were left with were two sides who were both good and evil. The regular members were victimized by unfair rules and regulations that only benefited the canons, but then attempted to get rules in place that ONLY benefited them and screwed canons over. The canons were unfairly scrutinized when the higher-ups were the ones who created this systematic discrimination, but then they go and prove them right by allowing the World Fighters to create anything they wanted and to deny anyone else from doing the same.
Good times...good times...
