As many of you know, both the Action Replay DS and Action Replay DSi needs to be updated to work with Pokemon Black and Pokemon White Version. However, I am getting the message "Not a firmware file". I have done every step, but nothing has happened. ARDS and ARDSi are having the same problem according to others who have attempted this. Here are some facts I already know: -You cannot use Black and White cheats unless you update. Doing so without the update will cause your game freeze and the codes will not work. -You must uncompress the firmware file and drag it to the code manager. -You must have the correct driver software to connect your AR to the code manager. -For ARDS that are below 1.6, there is an alternative firmware that will enable you to use the same features as 1.71. (Mine is 1.6) -The ARDS and ARDSi have a seperate firmware download.
That is all the important things that should be known. I was wondering if anyone here knows how to fix this.

Haven't found a solution on yahoo or google. Seems it happened to everyone and Datel is doing nothing.

I had to use a Windows XP computer just to get the action replay recognized on the code manager. It the update wouldn't work for me either. I just kept dragging the firmware into the code manager and after saying cannot recognize firmware about twenty-five times it randomly went through and I updated it. Mines basically updated by luck.

I tried everything. I extracted the file using winzip. Didn't work. I extracted the contents from the zip file. Didn't work either. I am at a loss of what to do. Yahoo isn't being helpful. Datel isn't doing anything about it after many people emailing them asking to fix this problem. The last thing I will ever do is Hex edit the file, but doing that will take away the ability to add future codes. I don't want to have to do that, so I am still trying to figure out a way to solve this problem.

I didn't exactly do the same thing over and over again. I actually tried different methods that yahoo and google were giving me.

That same thing happened to me but I solved it!(For DS lite/Original DS) Take out any GBA cartrage even the dummy cartrage from the DS lite then it should work

I never had anything in the gba slot to begin with.
Since the update would not work, I got an ARDSi and it did not need an update to work with Black/White, so this thread is locked since I no longer need any help.
