Season 4, Ep 2: Phenomenons

Jason and Spikore had won their match against Reoma and Slayer Phoenix, allowing them to move up in the tournament. The next match involved a regular to the WC Circuit, Carson Michaels, and his bakugan Haos Tritonus, against newcomer Kaden Miles, team leader of the new and mysterious group, Shadow Storm. He and his Bakugan, Ventus Dhradakor had accelerated through the tournament without a hitch, much to the surprise of the WC fans and the other competitors. There have also been reports that strange things tend to occur when Kaden brawls. With both of these brawlers competing in the final sixteen for the first time, the match is considered to be anyone's game. Will Carson win the brawl despite what he has heard about his foe? Or will he be psyched out by these strange reports and be defeated?

Carson stood on his pedestal across from his opponent, completely silent. His blonde hair was parted to its usual side, and he was still in his clothes from the day before. Carson sighed. His rent was due, and they shut off his water because he couldn't pay. Looks like he would be roughing it in these clothes for another couple days, or until the tournament is over, should he win. Carson finally looked at his opponent, Kaden Miles, and spoke.

"YOU'RE the one I have to brawl? Seriously?" he began, "I have many other things to worry about than brawling you. Your matches are fast, I'll give you that, but this one will end differently. Both of us are undefeated, and, frankly, you look like you died, went to Hell, and came back. Gate Card, set!" Carson tapped his CDS, and a golden light enveloped the arena, "Bakugan brawl! Haos Tritonus, stand!"

Tritonus stood in a silver light, like that of a shining star. The dragon rose, arms crossed, and stared straight at Kaden before unsheathing his wings in a fast, almost invisible, motion. The crowd erupted into a chant following that. Carson's name echoed throughout the stadium as the CDS voice broke through.

Haos Tritonus has entered the battle at 800 G.

KADEN MILES, please throw in your bakugan.

Carson looked pleased with the crowd's reaction.

"Hear that, Kaden? It's MY time! The prize money is mine, and I will get my water back, and actually get my rent in sooner than four days after it's due!" Carson yelled.

"Carson and I are going to wipe the floor with you!" Tritonus bellowed.

[Kaden Miles]

Kaden stood there with an emotionless look on his face, unfazed by the comments made against him. His shady appearance depicted him as a tough competitor, and often a person you shouldn't make eye contact with. He was your average roughneck type of guy, but acts so calm while watching people suffer. His previous battles weren't much of a hassle, but now a battle against someone who is undefeated will only make him look better. His trophies are starting to stack up much to his enjoyment. Finally, he decided to throw in his bakugan just to shut the crowd up for once.

"Bakugan...." There was a slight pause as he opened the left half of his jacket, and his bakugan ascended out of his pocket, and went in his right hand to be thrown.

"Brawl!! Ventus Dhradakor stand!!!!"

Dhradakor stood and let out a loud roar as lightning bolts made his appearance even more stunning that it already was.

Ventus Dhradakor has entered the battle at 800G.

Battle begin.

"Bring it on scum!" Dhradakor yelled.

"Big talk from a little guy!" Tritonus bellowed, "Give me something good, Carson!"

"Evo-Gear, engage!" Carson said, grabbing the ring from his necklace, which began glowing a bright silver light, "Haos Starblazer!"

Tritonus' wings became coated in a silver light that eventually engulfed Tritonus completely. When the light faded, Tritonus' wings had become coated in in a naturally-made metal emanating heat and light. The light resembled that of a star, and bits and pieces of it began sprinkling down, like a rain of light.

"Ability activate! Overlay Power!" Carson yelled, tapping a card on the CDS.

The field under Tritonus glowed yellow, and flashed twice. Power conductors and Tesla coils began sprouting from the ground and pumping electricity directly into Tritonus. Tritonus' upper body and arms began getting larger; his muscles beginning to become supercharged with power from the new Haos area. Tritonus then threw himself at Dhradakor, crackling with electricity, in a linebacker-like tackle that would extremely harm, or even liquify, the opponent's internal organs.

TRITONUS' power level increased by 400 G by introduction of Haos STARBLAZER.

Two Gate Cards added on top of initial due to effect of OVERLAY POWER, three gates in total. Gate control is currently with CARSON MICHAELS.

"Silence will get you nowhere, newbie! Times running out!" Carson began wagging his finger as if it were a metronome, "Tick, tock, tick, tock! Your little bakugan isn't gonna stand a chance for long!"

[Kaden Miles]

"It's been your 2nd turn and I'm already sick of hearing you talk." Kaden said in a disgusted manner. "Your ignorance will just make disposing of you more entertaining for me."

"Special ability activate! Trident Air Blast!" Kaden said as he tapped the card on his CDS.

Dhradakor began to glow green as he charged himself up upon the ability's activation. Upon release, he fired a large and powerful stream at Tritonus that was big enough to cover the majority of that section of the battlespace. In addition to that, the ability had also sent some electricity flowing through Dhradakor's body, and was used offensively to send electric pulses at Tritonus as well.

Dhradakor's power level increased by 400 G. Overlay Power's effects copied. Setting 2 gate cards for Kaden Miles. Additional effect incoming from player's bakupack.

-Dual Rampart Shock Twister: 2 clones of Dhradakor are made. 200G transferred from Tritonus to all Dhradakor's. Tritonus's attribute changed to Darkus. Tritonus's cards attribute changed to Aquos. Overlay Power void. Starblazer will be removed.

Carson began to chuckle. "Temper, temper, Clarise," he goaded, "You don't think that your little parlor trick will do anything to me."

Carson held his arms out to his side, and slowly rose them. The crowd got louder and louder with each inch added. The crowd chanted Carson's name louder and louder with each passing second.

"The crowd speaks, Clarise," Carson yelled over the crowd, "Support Weapon effect, activate!"

The intense starlight began to radiate in the arena. Dhradakor's power was broken as the bakugan's abilities were negated. Starblazer returned in full to the field, and engulfed Tritonus in its power once again.

Dhradakor abilities negated. Score returned to previous score.

"The crowd may be against me, but the odds are always in my favor."

Kaden grabbed the ring from his right ring finger, glowing green as its power was about to be used.

"I'll end this quickly for your sake. Evo Gear, engage! Ventus Cross Tempest Evo!"

Dhradakor quickly mutated into this behemoth of a dragon much to the shock of the audience. Bolts of lightning surrounded him upon transforming. He not only grew larger and stronger, but his left arm was now a dragon arm.

"Evolution Thunder!" Kaden said putting his arm towards Tritonus. Dhradakor unleashed a torrent of powerful lightning bolts from his body directly at Tritonus. Maybe a stray round or two headed for Carson, but who cares?

Cross Tempest Evo enters at 400G. All effects on Tritonus's side negated.

Dhradakor: 4600
Tritonus: 200

"Nice try, Clarise," Carson yelled, "But your sorry excuse of a bakugan is going down! Ability activate, Draining Space! Gate card, open! Gate of the Sun!"

The gate card opened as Carson tapped the CDS screen. The arena was covered in a vast expanding light that shattered the storm brought by the Evo-Gear. The clouds departed, and the lightning was absorbed into Tritonus' body, powering him up.

"Go, Tritonus!" Carson called as Tritonus flew at the opponent, fist outstretched. The power of Starblazer returned, and shot him at supersonic speeds towards Dhradakor. Tritonus landed a punch that echoed through the stadium. The Evo-Gear was broken in a flash of green light. Tritonus landed on the opposite side, and launched himself at Dhradakor for an attempt at a second strike.

400 G transferred, 2 card counts lost, and Cross Tempest Evo returned to arsenal with effects negated from effect of Draining Space.

Effect "You may prevent your opponent from using a type of effect of your choice" used due to effect of Gate. Effect restricted: sending in extra support weapon.

G Power doubled for each effect activated this round. G Power multiplied by 10.

[Kaden Miles]

"You are still too weak to hurt Dhradakor. Still, it's funny to see you try. Ability activate!" Kaden said as he tapped the card on his CDS. "Wind Pressure Cannon!"

Dhradakor had immediately held out his dragon arm and fired a massive air blast at Tritonus that not only was used to severely damage his foes, but also is powerful enough that a lot of wind pressure that was contained in the blast could break buildings and even limb at how fast it was and how much power it contained. Of course it was a fairly large considering Dhradakor was transformed when he was using the ability. It landed a clean hit on Tritonus, and smoke began to develop surrounding the explosion caused by the impact.

Dhradakor's power level increased by 200G for each turn that has already passed. Every effect Carson activated is negated. The counter used up the other counter limit instead of the normal one.

Tritonus fell from the sky towards the ground. Thinking fast, Carson snapped an ability into play.

"Ability activate, Star Fury!" Carson yelled. Tritonus' eyes opened before he hit the ground, and he was enveloped by an orb shield. Tritonus flew back up, and charged at Dhradakor, "Good try, Clarise, but now your ability is my weapon to play with."

Dhradakor's ability switched to Tritonus' side with effect changed to "Protects Tritonus and his cards, effects, Support Weapons, etc., from all of the opponent's effects". Tritonus' G power increased by 400 G.

"Looks like your fear of me has gotten the best of you Tritonus!" Dhradakor said as Tritonus came near him with this ability, but was easily countered as Dhradakor broke through the orb shield and grabbed him by his neck to stop him in his tracks. "It's amusing how someone with so much to talk about can't say the same about their power!" Dhradakor roared. He then began tightening his grip and said, "I think it's time for you to get a feel for what true power is. Let 'em have it Kaden!" Dhradakor then threw Tritonus to the ground below.

"Gate card, open!! Phaselock Judgment!"

The gate card began to glow upon activation, and immediately, a dark aura surrounded Tritonus and constricted him in what seemed to be a prison. Meanwhile, Dhradakor actually benefited from this gate card with him actually glowing a dark green color. This not only increased his power level by a massive number, but it also gave him some added protection by adding a barrier to his own body.

"Second gate card open! Combat Pulse!" Kaden said as he tapped another gate card due to having 2 from copying Overlay Power in the beginning of the match. Some thought he just cheated, but that was not the case. Just another average dirty play done legally. The gate card shot up a really large blast in Tritonus's location. Of course, Starblazer would be destroyed in this tactic due to the incoming effects of it.

(Before I even get into what I am about to do, remember that the wording of your card had switch in it, and not a specific counter. In that case, your card is irrelevant since your switch would have been stopped by my DRST, which changed your attribute. Of course, you might have said it is supposed to be a protect, but the wording says otherwise, so the rules do permit me to do this. Sorry.)

Phaselock Judgment was the first gate card I opened. This protects everything of mine from being affected by you, and increases my power level based on the highest power level reached. Then I'm going to use an effect in my bakupack.

-Storm Catalyst: I won't lose an ability for not playing one with this gate card, and I can copy/reuse 2 effects. Plus, your support weapon is destroyed. I reuse Trident Air Blast and copy your support weapon so I can switch your bakugan out for Cerberoid. I then get to use an effect in my bakupack, and get a 400G increase.

-Zap Tornado: Your effects will count as normal abilities, so judging by what you did so far, you're all out. The 0 in your power level is now your power level. You cannot use this against me.

Gate card open! Combat Pulse! I can use any effect in my bakupack, have this card have a strategy effect, and can choose any effect that changed a power level, and apply it to a Shadow Storm bakugan. First, the strategy effect will be to have you use an effect that I choose for you to use that is on the field. (this includes your ghost abilities) I force you to use "set 2 gate cards on the field" or however that Overlay Power thing worked. Your doubling thing looks interesting, so that will be applied to Dhradakor.

-Storm Catalyst: I wouldn't lose an ability for not playing one with this gate card, and I will reuse my DRST and copy your Draining Space. This makes me get 2 more clones (won't say the attribute thing since I already did it in the past, and it will just be the same thing here), and you lose 2 card counts.

"Anything smart you want to say now?" Kaden asked.

Carson frowned as his bakugan fell to the ground. He quickly shouted another command in order to keep Tritonus from getting pummeled by Dhradakor's massive attack. His eyes flashed as he responded to his opponent, "Why thank you, Clarise. I do actually want to say something."

"Ability Activate! Star Shield!" he ordered as his bakugan started to glow with an unearthly radiance. Tritonus created an orb within the orb he was trapped in. He destroyed the orb from the inside with this extra burst of power. The danger of the Combat Pulse attack, still at bay, "And that's not all, Clarise," Carson pointed out as the Combat Pulse attack headed towards its target. As if on a dime, the Haos Bakugan turned towards the attack and thrust out his hands. When the attack hit, it was absorbed by Tritonus' hands as he gained power from the attack. The metallic dragon then turned his sights towards Dhradakor and sailed towards his opponent.

"You say I'm afraid Dhradakor," retorted the glowing Tritonus, "Well, if that's so then why am I about to smash your face in? You want power, you're about to feel it!"

Tritonus and all of his stuff are protected thanks to Star Shield.

He also transfer's 400G.

[Kaden Miles]

Dhradakor caught the incoming punch with a solitary hand. He held his opponent in a stalemate for a few seconds before speaking. "Really, Tritonus? After all of that big talk, this is all of the power that you could muster? Ha!" The Ventus bakugan tightened his grip on his enemy's fist, hoping to cause his Haos foe a bit of preliminary pain.

Kaden shouted a command to his CDS. "Ability Activate! Orbeum Cannon!"

Dhradakor opened his mouth and charged a ball of green energy. After three seconds had passed, he released a stream of deadly energy that would normally badly injure a bakugan from the appropriate range. However, in this close of a proximity between the two bakugan, the effects of the attack were much more potent than in a normal situation.

As the battle neared to a close, Kaden saw his opportunity, and shouted one last command to his bakugan. "Now Dhradakor! Give them a taste of our true power! Unleash the full potential of your Evo-Gear!"

Dhradakor seemed to acknowledge his brawler as he started to glow with a strange, unearthly energy. In a display that was somehow unseen by the audience, a portal appeared behind Casron and his bakugan, threatening to suck them inside.

With Orbeum Cannon, all G power decreases will decrease the opponents power level by that decrease or any increases will increase your power level by that increase. I may also link/chain any effects. If you were losing by over 1500G, I may negate/reflect any effects. In this case all of these effects apply, including me negating all of your effects.

"Gyaaah!" Tritonus shouted as his fist was crushed by the sheer force of Dhradakor's grip. "I see...It seems you were holding back your true strength. No matter, We won't let you guys take us down so easily!" Although Tritonus continued to goad on his Ventus opponent, he was truly struggling with breaking free from his opponent's grip.

Things took a turn for the worse as the Orbeum Cannon attack hit. The raw power of the attack was too much for Tritonus as he returned to ball form. As the bakugan flew to Carson's hand, a strange force tugged at him from behind. The Haos brawler turned his head to see that there was a portal behind him and that it was sucking him and Tritonus inside.

"What the heck!?" Carson shouted at Kaden, "What are you doing Clarsie! Is this crap even legal?" Soon, the force became too strong as he and his bakugan were sucked into the portal as he shouted, "This isn't the last that you've heard from me, Clarise!"

I have no more moves. Good Game.

After a brief flash of light, Carson found himself face-down on the ground. However, he wasn't necessarily on the ground. As he got up and brushed himself off, the Haos brawler saw that he was in some sort of strange desert. The moon hung in the sky, indicating that, wherever he was, it was most likely nighttime there.

Carson scratched his head. How on Earth was Clarise able to do that? He had never heard of any bakugan that could create portals. After a few minutes of thinking, another problem floated to the top of his mind: Where was Tritonus?

[Jason Cross]

After competing in his own brawl, Jason had decided to go look at one of the other brawls that were going on. Since Gin's brawl was already over, the Subterra brawler had decided to look at Justin's brawl. However, Spikore was against the idea. He told Jason that he wanted to see if that new team, Shadow Storm, was any good. He also came up with the idea that Jason, Gin, and Justin, might be able to learn some tips and tricks from these guys. Agreeing with his partner, Jason headed over to watch the match between Kaden Miles and Carson Michaels.

As the two walked into the arena, they looked around for a seat. Unfortunately for them, the area was packed with spectators. Not a single seat was available for the brawler and Bakugan duo.

"Man..." Jason groaned. "This place is freakin' crowded. Why is everyone here to see two newbies? It wasn't even this packed when Reoma was fighting, and he's a tournament regular." Spikore flew over to Jason's other shoulder. "Well, Jason," He explained, "This brawl is between the number three and number four contenders for the championship." "What!?" Jason exclaimed, "Really? Who's one and two?"

"Number two is Greil Saratoshi," Spikore answered. "Saratoshi?" Jason asked, "You mean that guy from the Krakkens?" "Yup. Number one is someone you know very well." Jason clenched his teeth at the very thought of his known rival. "Scarecrow. That guy really gets on my nerves." "And I'm not too fond of Zerevix myself. However, you can't deny his skill."

Jason nodded in agreement. He then continued to watch the intense brawl before him. As he watched, he noticed that the brawl was nearing its end as the Ventus bakugan unleashed a powerful close range attack upon its Haos opponent. There was a flash of light as the attack hit and the bakugan returned to ball form. The light became so intense that it was unbearable to look at. When the light died down. Jason, along with the entire audience, only saw Kaden standing on the field. That was odd, where had Carson gone?

"Well..." Jason heard a voice say. "It seems that my opponent has ran away in embarrassment. I can't say that I blame him." After a few seconds of awkward silence, the crowd began to mumble. The mumbling turned into cheering, which quickly turned into chanting, "Kaden, Kaden, Kaden." Jason shook his head in disbelief as Kaden walked out of the arena. "Man," He said, "To think that someone would run away like that, what a coward."

"I wouldn't be so sure," Spikore interjected, "Call it instinct but something doesn't seem to add up." Jason turned to look at his partner. "Are you sensing foul play?" "I dunno, but something just doesn't feel right about all this. I say we keep a watch on Kaden and these Shadow Storm guys, alright?" The Subterra brawler nodded, "Sound like a plan."
