I'm completely on board with what Carson just said.
Darkness, in order to provide an answer to that, we'll have to ask ourselves how we plan on grouping these categories. In other words, what does a card have to do to qualify for a particular class?
The definitive answer I will give you is that you missed something. XD It'd be tragic if we set it up based on the questions you asked about the classes. I was thinking along the lines of having the non-evolved Bakugan use cards that are class C or below, which could work given that the evolutionary line I was proposing would include three evolutions. That would mean they get B and below on the first, A and below on the second, and S and below on the third.
That's an idea to consider, but...Shira's is swaying my thoughts a little. I like what she put. The first thing I would change are the values she put for Class X. I'd use those for forbidden abilities or any technique of that caliber, so I'd let any Bakugan use them regardless of where they're at; we could just say 1 across the board.
The second and final thing I'd mess with are the values themselves. What I'm getting from the outline is that the values listed are what the Bakugan can use within their usual card count. So out of the possible six or seven cards I could use, the ones I use must adhere to those guidelines. We have something going here, but I'm not quite on board with the values in general. It's not that I disagree with it. It's more of me being confused and not knowing which side to go on.
The one that immediately caught my eye was how Class D became more restrictive the more a Bakugan evolved while it's supposedly the weakest tier out of the ones listed. I tried looking at this objectively and thought that you were indirectly pulling the training wheels off. That makes sense in a way, but within the context of where I thought we were going, I don't know if I should say yes or no. An example for a class E ability in my eyes would be Ability Breaker. Should we really say that people can't use that anymore? That's something we need to think about.
So do we only place a limit on cards that are class b and above or should we have a limit on all classes in general? What are your thoughts on that?

I believe the limits should exist for all classes, but at apropriate levels. Larger count limits as the class goes down.

If there are no limits for lower classes that could be easily exploited. Yes, might sound silly, but there is always a slight chance that someone might exploit the privilege of limitless abilities. I vote limits ON. Could you explain what you mean by this '1 across the board'? My English is not perfect. Also, how would you define a Forbidden ability if ANY Bakugan could use them? Abilities with access to OP effects? (E.g. gain 1000 G or quadruple G-power)

Abilities with access to OP effects? (E.g. gain 1000 G or quadruple G-power) Well, no. That's not what I was saying at all. I never once said that anyone would have limitless abilities. I just got through explaining that we'd still have the usual limitation on ability counts as we do now, but the cards we'd play would also have to adhere to Shira's proposed idea. That's why I suggested for the limitations on the card classes to only count for classes B and up (in Shira's system, of course) because the lower classes wouldn't be as powerful as those are to make any substantial differences in combat. "What I'm getting from the outline is that the values listed are what the Bakugan can use within their usual card count. So out of the possible six or seven cards I could use, the ones I use must adhere to those guidelines." ^ This is exactly what I said.
What I meant by 1 across the board was that 1 Class X ability can be used by a Bakugan no matter what. In other words, it doesn't matter where the Bakugan is in its evolution line; it will always have the option to use that kind of ability. In terms of defining them, I'll take a quote from Battle Net itself: These cards will follow the same card creation rules except for a few changes: 1. You do not have to halve the increase/decrease/transfer for continuous effects, but they cannot exceed 800G. 2. The maximum power level increase/decrease/transfer is double of what was originally the max for a bakugan and its evolutions. 3. You can create certain overpowered effects such as doubling all of your effects, illegal continuous effects (except countering) (Ex. Match power levels anytime I'm lower), etc. Of course, no one is allowed to make something like that until the later ranks and they have penalties (like not being able to earn honor points in the battle it's used in or actually killing your Bakugan).

I think a good one would be to make the bakugan that used it unplayable for a certain amount of real world time I believe we're all on the same page with that one. With that said, I believe implementing this design is highly possible. Having forbidden abilities carry the possibility of killing a Bakugan is extreme for a reason; it's supposed to be frightening. I see no problem with having that happen. What about anyone else?

Maybe put different penalties for Forbidden ones? Penalties could vary depending on effects of the card and Bakugans themselves.
Naturally, a strong ability would have higher penalties. Plus, if Bakugan is weak he will sustain higher penalties.
As for your suggestion of killing Bakugans let's put it as an OPTION. If someone wants to use it they will use it at their own risk. Even though...what would be the point of using it when you lose your Bakugan, victory links and other things.
Unless... we develop Doom Dimension system I was working on.

Wait- KILLING a bakugan? It's not permanent I hope, a 2 year old bakugan which I drew out of my out sweat and hands dead forever? I don't know how much effort the next line of brawlers will be placing into their bakugan(s) but I know I would be devastated to no end.
A doom dimension sounds like a better idea to go with. In fact, it sounds kinda interesting. If a bakugan looses, they can't be used until a certain amount of time has passed, real world time. It can be the result of an X ability used in a battle, loosing bakugan(s) are sent to the DD
Or maybe just having the bakugan be unusable for a certain time period to recover, kinda realistic? Well, maybe for a battle without X abilities.

Obviously, I'm not going to allow a Bakugan to die after the first usage. I'm not stupid...
The actual death doesn't happen until after the third usage in a short time frame. They'd have plenty of opportunities to not do it. I'm just not in favor of having an ability that powerful not have any significant drawbacks. In my mind, there'd be no reason for it to be forbidden if there weren't any severe consequences. It's almost like their usage is being encouraged now, at least from my standpoint. I don't see why I wouldn't want to use it consistently other than the honor point penalty.
I include them for choice, but I wouldn't do it if the penalty isn't going to be that severe. Even Drago couldn't take too much more of that in the actual series, so that'd only be realistic if the ability puts its health at risk. If I knew there wasn't going to be that big of a penalty (such as a temporary barring), I'd throw those abilities around all day, and I won't have that happen. These abilities are literally overpowered...
I wouldn't feel any sympathy for anyone that dies because it'd be their fault. They didn't have to use them; they chose to do it.
This may be something we're not going to see eye to eye with, and I'm okay with that.

I like the idea of having bakugan experience drawbacks like that, but I think death is an extreme measure that, as Noland said, should happen after multiple forbidden ability usage. First evolution bakugan should only have a max 3 usages per battle before experiencing major pain, and a 4th usage would kill them. Second evolution would get 4 usages with the 5th doing them in, and 3rd evolution and beyond would have 5 usages with the 6th making them kick the bucket.

Forbidden Abilities might be useful to have in arsenal. Doubtful that anyone will actually get their Bakugan killed.
I want to ask something about this system.
1) Let's imagine that one non-evolved brand-new novice Bakugan uses 1-2 Forbidden Abilities. If he evolves are those penalty counts from using Forbidden Abilities going to be reset to zero or it stacks up? Maybe it would be sensible to reset after evolution.
2) Do penalties expire after a certain amount of time? Like, you got penalty count for using this Ability. Can you wait 3 days and it expires or it remains until Bakugan dies (or evolves)?
3) Would it be possible to implement a very expensive item that would reduce your penalty counts if you are very desperate for using Forbidden Abilities? Like, use 1000 $ to buy it and restore a certain amount of penalties? That would give someone a reason to throw money.

What this means is that the person could not have repeated usage within a certain time-frame (Ex. 7 days, 2 weeks, etc.). I'm not sure whether I agree with what I put now as opposed to when I did it, but we can work that out. The only exception to this could have been if a Bakugan had evolved through the Chaos Ability X method; their timer will reset, but they'll get penalized each time they use one. 3. It would be possible. I'm not sure what to tell you in terms of pricing, but that should be in there.

(I haven't fully read all what has been posted, but I want to post what has been in my thoughts for close to a month now.)
From what I know, I'd like to first point out that interest in Bakugan is really diminishing, so if we want to shine more light on this site, it has to be really captivating. To do this, we need to take advantage of existing systems: the roleplay and battle systems, and then edit, update and maintain them (which is what everyone has been talking about). Both systems should perfectly work hand-in-hand, simulating an MMORPG and possibly an MMORTS.
Since the topic now is the battle system, I have some ideas to share. I was on a Proboards hosted fantasy rpg called Kingdoms Unleashed (which is currently closed) where you get to play as a fantasy character. There, a profile matters in every part of the site because the roleplay and battle systems were wonderfully integrated. The owner actually customized the whole site by writing and downloading plugins which totally amplified its uniqueness. In the battle section, a plugin that allowed players to attack based on a random value it generated made it a game of luck. However, 'luck' wasn't all that mattered because players gained items from rps and a beautifully crafted shopping system which could be used to inflict damage, heal etc. Each battle and move made were closely monitored by the owner (yeah, he was a do-it-all guy). I'm not saying we should copy all of that. No. However, it'd be nice if we could develop or download plugins for the site. I do not know whether anyone does that on Proboards anymore, but I'm volunteering to build what I can. (For the past two and a half years I've been learning web/game programming/development and I think I should be able to develop a few plugins.)
Battle Net's rules are very good at making sure that becoming fully evolved and bouyant in battle changing effects take a long time of hardwork, which is the opposite here. Customized effects can almost be created eight times in two days. I'm not blaming creativity here, heck, there's a sense of accomplishment in having personal effects. There should be some factors (which might have been mentioned already) that should interestingly affect everything about the system, to ensure 'fairness' and 'equal opportunities' in battles. Entertaining orderliness and moderation might be in place.
'Battle-oriented staffs' should be in charge of opening threads and announcing participants, as well moderating intensely. A well moderated match should bring the staff a reward. (How about titles, awards or badges?)
At the start of each match, the moderator should inform the participants of ALL the rules of the match, so all excuses by offenders will be invalid.
Experience points are indeed cool, but Noland's honor points are way cooler. It really does a good job in ranking and I have to say, it is very efficient. The number of posts a member has made will never determine the title given to a brawler and it sure makes a rank up and a rank down deserved.
The evolution/upgrade points too are fully self-optimized and armed to deal with cases where evolutions are undeserved. For example, if a skilled brawler has won a veteran or any brawler seven times with luck or unfairness, does he/she really deserve an evolution? Absolutely not! If the upgrade point system is scaled with the honor point system, it'd be better.
The card classing thing is superb. It will boldly distinguish and announce significance of cards. Coupled with determining the compatibility of cards with Bakugans, the battle system will definitely be transformed. I like the idea of Forbidden Cards too because in a game like this, there has to be a special card that is hard to get, easy to use and painful to get carried away by it. Adding the Doom Dimension or a transdimensional realm will solidify the acts and characteristics of evil brawlers. Oh, and I also love the idea of Bakugans being killed. It will keep everyone on their feets.
I have to warn us though. Having so many additions and systems and rules and the rest is great, but it might get harder for people to understand (we all have differences). It does well to limit our members to fans only, but what about others who might sincerely want to try it out? It would be best to implement all these in the best but simplest way possible.
As expected, the activity boost in fan sites will depend on this new series. Instead of relying on it, why don't we take matters into our hands? Let's get the word out like never before. I can contact the owner of Enclave Games for a partnership, and we all can come up with a brief demo game that will feature some of our Bakugans, their abilities and images. It will just introduce new comers to the system and speed up acquaintancy with the rules.
By the way, just like Noland said, it might take a while before a revi

Creation and battle topics aside.
We have a major cause of Mute Empire Online. Screw the chatbox, but boards are what it's important. Bringing up all these new changes is only going to be worth it if new Bakugan series comes and if it is good (which I highly doubt). And it is not worth it now because everything is mute. Profile Creation...new people come, make dumb profile and leave. Bakupacks...no one makes them. Bakugan Shop; no one reads the rules and then leaves. I am serious, I won't be checking those crappy creations anymore. You treat rules like crap, I treat your creations as crap. World Rankings...I won't comment on this. Battle Area. Who battles? No one. Literally, no one. Roleplay Area. This is the only board with activity on it. And that activity is dancing over the threads. This is a plot-issue I don't want to get into since Season 2 has started a long time ago and I don't think any changes can be made before Season 3.
Other boards. Advertisement board has activity, but I don't see that being useful with other ones being mute beyond belief.
General Roleplay- Board that should be the MOST active one is NOT active AT ALL. I tried doing a plot, but considering my obligations and time (which is apparently abundant, but it is not) it is impossible for me to finish any of it, so I hoped other people would bring some sort of made-up-on-the-spot plot where we all could relax, but nope. Everyone is just waiting for Damian to do some magic trick to restore site's activity. How is having this new system we all talk about going to help us NOW? New members MIGHT start coming once new Bakugan series is released (which I doubt will happen anyway), but when will that happen?? Year 2018th? By that time I might probably leave the site. Damian said he would 'be on his way' when Season 3 is done.
But I guess no one simply has time to do anything... Time I had here is usually reduced to weekends now, so don't expect me to give any useful ideas for renewal of the site. Expect me to leave when Season 2 is done. Not that me leaving has any impact on the side, but just for the sake of info.

Ok... i know i havent posted in here at all. and that i smostily to be being on the: what can i do side of things. Yes i have a plot going on but it took me over a year just to make it even then i am sort of making it up on the spot but just making sure it follows my general idea. that is also why there are no epidose like there is more Damian's plots and your's Darkness when you did them. There are parts of my plot that i still don't know what will happen so this can happen to make this plot make sence.
That aside I fell that this site's fate shall not be dependant on this new baugan series if it comes out. We like bakugan don't we? even if not all of us like the tv show. Are some of us really gonna just let this place die? I love this site to buts even if it wasn't as active as it was before but hey even with our small amount of people i have had some good time here. We can update our ad a bit and spread it about have the ad so it makes people go: What is this? Which could mena not stating it is bakugan, let people get an idea of what it is then let them know it is bakugan. Cause some of our problems might be people go: Oh Bakugan that's old and as such they brush it off. Maybe change our name?
What i say might not be much heck if you dont' ant to listern to me at all and forget my post is here then fine, but some of the reason behind this muse is because some people like me arn't people who an create plots. Not on my own anyway.... i can't create my own story without asking my mates what i should i do on the next chapter if those people have read my current ones for that story.
But by the looks of thing Darkness his given up and i don't like this.... darkness is one of the ones that makes ths site amazing. If darkness goes...then what happens cause most of the conversation on chat include darkness.
I think as a starter but maybe after Damian's season 2 is nearly done so the load is lighter is for ALL OF US, yes yyou heard me, ALL OF US to create a plot. A plot that we all like that can get this site going and spark interest for new members. Maybe something like in alternate universe thing is the current plots haven't happeneds or didn't go as planned sort of thing because i don't know about you guys but i think doing thsi could spark A Lot of interest.
But i am probabily repeating myself a bit now as my brain is crap as hell due to the time so i am gonna leave it here.
