Season 4, Ep 1: A New Era

[Reoma Zikku]

Slayer Phoenix used his superior strength to block the oncoming assault of fists. "Ha!" He taunted, "Do you think these puny punches will hurt me? Please. Don't be so naive." The bakugan caught one of Spikore's punches and flung Spikore to the opposite end of the field. "Alright!" Shouted Reoma, "I'll try this again! Ability Activate! Fire Blaze!" Slayer Phoenix was set a blaze with purple flames as he charged up his powers. "Yes! I feel so much stronger!" "Hey Jason," Reoma stared directly at the other brawler, "You're think your bakugan is the only one who can draw extra power? Think again! Fire Blaze gives Phoenix the power to repeat any of his previous moves. Now, Phoenix! Blazing Buster!" "With Pleasure! Gyaaaah!" Shouted Slayer Phoenix as another purple phoenix-shaped missile was sent in Spikore's direction. "I bet you can't stop this a second time, Spikore!"

I re-use Blazing Buster: Double's my Gs and Prevents opponents from using normal abilities.)

"Again, huh?" Jason questioned his partner. This brawl was starting to become a blast. "Well," he responded with a smile, "I hope you don't mind me disappointing you." The Subterra brawler's eyes flashed a golden brown as his trap was set. "Now, Spikore!" He shouted to his partner, "Gate Card Open! Igneous Fortress!" the floor soon became covered in rocks and stones. The floor then started to move as it moved in a vortex motion. The vortex turned into a tornado as it surrounded Spikore, cloaking him in full body armor made out of rocks and gravel. "Aw, Yeah!" Shouted Spikore, "Try getting through this!"

The blaze continued to head towards the Subterra Bakugan as his brawler shouted another command. "Spikore! Use your Spike Rain technique!" "No problem, boss!" Shouted Spikore as hundreds of spikes were shot inbetween the cracks in Spikore's armor. The needles were launched at the Blazing Buster as they nullified the attack. "Yeah!" Shouted Spikore, "and we still have more up our sleeves! Ain't that right Jason?" "You bet!" Jason responded. "Ability Activate! Desert Army!" As if they were created from the rocks and gravel themselves, gargoyle-like bakugan appeared. The creatures looked like shadowy versions of Spikore as they attacked Slayer Phoenix without hesitation.

(Gate Card: Igneous Fortress: User may pick any two cards in their bakupack and turn them into SWs. User may throw out two SWs. User may transfer 300G from the each opponent per SW in play. I throw out Spike Rain and Soul Hammer. Next I transfer 600G

I activate the effect of Spike Rain: Negate all enemy ability cards. Switch the enemy gate card with your own. If it is your gate card, loop an effect. I choose not to loop anything.

Ability: Desert Army: Create a clone of Spikore for every bakugan and SW on the field. Each clone transfers 150G from the opponent. I create 4 clones and transfer 600G.)

"Clones..." Slayer Phoenix grumbled, "It just had to be clones..." The Darkus bakugan redied himself for the onslaught, dodging blows left and right. He blocked one incoming punch with his fists while quickly turning around to dodge another attack. He punched one of the clones, destroying it in the process. However, there were still several clones charging at him. "Uh...Reoma?" Slayer Phoenix called out to his brawler, "I could use some help, boss. Give me something to use!" Reoma nodded. This battle was getting intense, it was time he kicked things up a notch. "No problem, Phoenix. I'll get you out of this. Ability Activate!" His eyes flashed purple as he shouted out his voice command. "Dark Feather Storm! Take those clones down, partner!" "Right!" Shouted Phoenix as the he was engulfed in a cyclone of darkness. He then released a barrage of feathers that shot out into all directions of the arena. The feathers pierced through the clones, making countless holes in them and destroying them. "Alright!" Shouted Reoma, "Let's turn the tides of this brawl! Now! Dynamite!" A glowing orb appeared in his hands. This technique was similar to a one-handed Kamehameha as Phoenix unleashed the energy towards his opponent. "Now fall already!" Shouted the Darkus Bakugan.

(Ability: Dark Feather Storm: I am protected and I loop an effect.

I loop Dynamite: Opponent's bakugan is sent back and I gain a card count.)

[Jason Cross]

"Hah!" Jason taunted, "This move again? Were just gonna bust right through that! I thought you were supposed to be a champ." "Jason..." Spikore shook his head, "You shouldn't get cocky. You're good but that doesn't mean your opponent isn't." After Spikore spoke, a massive orb of energy was sent in his direction. "See what I mean?" The subterra Bakugan shouted to his partner, "Now, get your head in the game!" Jason nodded, he needed to be more careful, especially if his opponent was going to throw a move as strong as this. If this attack collided, it could possibly be the K.O. that Reoma needed.

"Alright!" Shouted a refocused Jason, "Let's make them eat their own attack! Special Ability Activate" His eyes flashed that strange golden brown as the CDS responded to his command, "Soul Hammer!" A glowing hammer instantly appeared in Spikore's hands. "Let's see if you can handle this!" The bakugan roared as he swung the hammer, bouncing the attack back at his foe. "Go down!"

(Special Ability: Negate all enemy effects. Pick one word. All enemy bakugan in an opponent's bakupack with that word in their name is sent to the user's side of the field. Word doesn't matter since you only have Slayer Phoenix.)

"Gyahh!" Slayer Phoenix shouted as his body collided with the reflected Dynamite attack. The bakugan hit the wall of the arena with a thud. The Darkus bird pushed himself off of the wall and landed on its two feet. He shook off bits of debris from collision as he guffawed at Spikore. "Well, it seems someone packs a punch. However, if that's all you've got then you're in for quite the surprise. Right, boss?" Reoma nodded. Even he had to admit that his opponent's were tough, but he had made it to the final sixteen several times, and for good reason. "You're tough Jason, I'll give you that. But in the end, you and that little crew of yours will soon experience a wake up call. This isn't the preliminaries, and we aren't some pushover, starry-eyed dreamers. We are the real deal, no bones about it, World Championship Bakugan Brawlers." The brawler's eyes flashed purple once more as he held his left hand up in the air. On the pointer finger of that hand was a black ring with a strange Indian character on it. The device started to glow purple as Reoma spoke again. "I will say this, though. I didn't think that we would have to reveal our new secret this early in the competition. Oh well, I guess you've earned it. Now, Evo Gear, Enhance! Warmech Destra!" Slayer Phoenix's body became surrounded by an electromagnetic force, making it look like the bakugan was covered in thunderclouds. This made it impossible for everyone to see the transformation. The crowd watched in anticipation until the Darkus bakugan emerged in a new and more fearsome form. "Hahaha!" Phoenix taunted, "just try and stop us now!" "Now, Phoenix!" Reoma shouted as his eyes flashed one more time, "Let them see our ultimate attack! Fusion Ability Activate! Ultimate Phoenix Rebirth!" The Darkus bakugan roared as it's body unleashed a massive series of missiles that were crackling with energy. The projectiles headed straight towards Spikore with enough power to finish the game. All they had to do was make contact once. "Now Jason," Reoma smirked at his foe, "This is checkmate!"

(Warmech Destra: Negate all enemy cards and switch out an opponent's bakugan with one in their bakupack. I'll switch out your bakugan with Gargylon

Fusion Ability: Ultimate Phoenix Rebirth: Fuses with Dark Feather Storm: Negate all enemy effects. I gain transfer 400G each turn from all enemy bakugan)

"What the-" Spikore muttered as the electric missiles charged at him. Reoma and Slayer Phoenix were getting absolutely serious. "Spikore!" Jason shouted to his partner, "Do you think you can dodge that?" he asked, concerned that this attack might be the final blow. Spikore shook his head and laughed. "Ye of little faith. We aren't done in yet my friend. Gaia is still with us, remember?" "What?" Jason questioned the dragonoid, confused at first. He then nodded as he understood the Subterra bakugan's message. "Right! I got it Spikore!"

He held up his right hand in the same manner that Reoma had. On his middle finger was a golden ring that looked almost like a wedding band. However, this ring had a strange inscription on it in Spikore's native language. Even Jason wasn't sure what the words meant. In spite of that, the brawler's eyes flashed a golden brown as he activated his weapon. "Alright Spikore!" he shouted. "Let's show them that we're no pushovers either!" "Right!" Jason shut his eyes and shouted with all of his might. "Evo-Gear, enhance! Meta Gaia!"

As Jason summoned the weapon, Slayer Phoenix's missiles crashed into Spikore, creating a massive explosion that made it impossible for anyone to see him. The crowd gasped as they thought that Spikore was defeated. After what felt like a few hours had passed by, the audience heard a guttural war cry as Spikore's shadow was seen in the dust clouds. He stood more upright as two massive skeletal wings shot out from his back. His tail grew long and his muscles increased in size. The bakugan's snout elongated, revealing rows of razor sharp teeth, and his body was covered in heavily armored scales. After a few minutes, Spikore stood unscathed by the attack, his true form had been revealed. "Kyaaah!" The enhanced dragon shouted. "I am the defender of the Earth! I am Gaia's Titan! I am Spikore! Taste the power of my Goddess!".

The bakugan shot up into the air and charged at Slayer Phoenix as Jason shouted out a command. Ability Activate! Gargoyle Bomb!" "Kyaaaaah!" Spikore shouted as he charged at his foe, two orbs appeared in his hand and were quickly released. The two orbs headed straight towards Slayer Phoenix, and collided with the bakugan. "Let's end this!" Spikore shouted as Jason smirked in response to Reoma's previous comment. "You see it now? This is our resolve!"

(Meta Gaia: Reflect some or all enemy effects.

Ability Activate: Gargoyle Bomb: Negate all enemy SW or enemy gate card. User may throw out an enemy bakugan of users choice. That bakugan goes to the users side to become an ally of the user.)

[Reoma Zikku]

An explosion sounded as the orbs collided with Slayer Phoenix. The bakugan tried to move as he fell, but for some reason his armor was weighing him down. It wasn't just that, Reoma could feel it too, some strange felling that he had never felt before. It was defeat. Up until this point, he and his partner had never been defeated. They were champions and heroes in their own country. There was no way that some no name kid and bakugan could have taken them down. "Gyahh," Slayer Phoenix shouted as he crashed to the ground, "I can't believe it...This was our year..." The Darkus bakugan collided with the ground and turned to ball form as he landed in Reoma's hand. "Wow..." said Reoma, who was still in shock. After about a minute, he regained his composure, and said, "Well, it seems that I have underestimated you. Since you beat me, you have to win. I want people to know that the only reason that I lost is that I was beaten by the World Bakugan Champion." He held his fist to the sky and stared Jason down. "You better win, Jason. Phoenix and I believe in you and your team."

(I have no more moves. I lost this round as well.)

[Jason Cross]

"Jason, Jason, Jason," The crowd shouted as they witnessed the underdog take out one of the prime contenders for the championship. Jason waved at the cheering fans as he placed Spikore on his shoulder. Who knew that the crowds here were so crazy? The Subterra brawler turned to face his opponent so he could wish him good luck or something. However, Reoma had already gone up and left. Oh well, he would have liked to talk to him. The kid seemed like he knew what he was doing, and Jason wanted to know more about his brawling style.

He breathed a nonchalant sigh, "Well, Spikore, we did it. We made it to round two. I just hope Gin and Justin had just as much fortune as we did." "I'm sure they did," Spikore assured his partner, "After all, they are Nova Brawlers." Jason nodded, "You're right. We are a team, and teammates won't let each other down. Thanks Spikore." "No problemo."

As they turned around and walked towards the elevator behind the pedestal, Jason saw his partner, Gin, in the crowd. Jason thought that the Darkus brawler must have finished his match early. He gave the guy thumbs up, but wasn't sure if the brawler had noticed it. Oh well, he would talk to him later. At the moment, Jason wanted to see one of the other first round matches in order to see what he was up against in the next rounds to come.
