Season 4, Ep 3: The Eagle vs. The Maniac

The next match of the first round was between a member of the Nova Brawlers and a well known opponent. Justin Airfields, a Ventus Brawler and the oldest member of the Nova Bralwers, teams up with his bakugan, Ventus Zeoflaire to take on an opponent from the Sky Reavers, rival team to the Nova Brawlers. Justin's opponent, Blake Hardweather, is a Aquos brawler and notorious for rendering his opponents unable to counteract to his unpredictable brawling styles. Can Justin defeat this old rival? or will Blake and his bakugan, Kaibaron, have the advantage?

As Justin walks in the elevator after watching Jason's match, he breathes deep worried about his brawl. His next opponent was Blake Hardweather. Justin knew Blake and his skills though never brawled against him since he was a kid, so he needed to think of a strategy.

"Hey, this guy can't be that tough, we're not going to lose, trust me on this buddy." ZeoFlaire was in Justin's palm, not even worrying about the match.

“It's not Blake that makes me nervous; it's how we are going to defeat him? I never brawled against him in a match like this, so I want to make this right."

The elevator stopped and Justin walked out. He saw the fans, heard the cheers and felt nervous. As he was walking onto the field he watched Blake take out his bakugan. Justin gulped and looked at ZeoFlaire.

"Okay ZeoFlaire, I got a plan though you have to trust me on this. Let's go!" The Field turned on and Justin set the gate "Go Ventus ZeoFlaire! Rise and Fly!" As ZeoFlaire opened and rose he flew up and turned into an eagle flying made a glare at Blake.


Justin: 800G vs Blake: ??

Blake walked onto the battlefield. He laughed maniacally as he recognized his opponent. "Well, well, well!" The brawler laughed as he spoke. Nobody was really sure why he did that, it was just accepted as something that he did, "If it isn't Justin Airfields from the Nova Brawlers. Who would've known that I would get this lucky? I get an easy first brawl AND I get to knock out one of the Nova Brawlers from the tournament, all in one fell swoop. AHAHAHAHAHA!" Despite his taunting, Blake Hardweather had actually never brawled Justin before. He had taken on Jason once or twice, and he had a strong rivalry against Gin, but he really didn't know the Ventus brawler very well.

A blue bakugan ball that was resting on Blake's shoulder popped open and spoke. "I swear, Blake." He spoke with a much more stern and serious tone than his partner. "Sometimes I worry about your sanity." "AHAHAHAHA!" Blake erupted in laughter, "Sanity is overrated, my dear friend. Now, let's focus on what really matters!" He pointed a finger at Justin and his bakugan, "Crushing THIS guy! AHAHAHAHA!"

His eyes flashed blue as he held his bakugan in his hand and chucked him upwards onto the battlefield. "AHAHAHAHA! BAKUGAAAAAAN BRAAAAAAAWL! Stand, Aquos Kaibaron!" A bright blue light flashed above as a figure immediately crashed down to the ground and landed with a tremendous thud. As the dust settled, a humanoid stood in shining blue armor. He wore a shining helm and held in his hands a gleaming longsword forged from blue steel.

"Hmph." He scoffed, "These are our opponents? This won't even be a noteworthy brawl."

(Kaibaron :: 800G)

"Hmm, okay let's get this battle started. ZeoFlaire, ready UP!!!"

Justin pulled out a card and screamed "Ability Activate, Eagles Freedom!" out of nowhere Zephyr Pawn entered the fray. ZeoFlaire roared and rammed into Kaibaron with all of his strength making him lose his own strength.

Take that Kaibaron, now go down!!"

Zeoflaire flew back and turned into an armored ninja while Kaibaron was withering of power loss. Zephyr Pawn jumped with ZeoFlaire conjoining there g making them in a huge advantage over Blake and Kaibaron.


Eagle Freedom: send in a bakugan and drops opponent g to 0.

[Blake Hardweather]

"Gahhh!" Kaibaron shouted as he fell to his knees from the power of ZeoFlaire's Eagle's Freedom attack. Blake watched as his bakugan withered from lack of power. He refused to say a word as ZeoFlaire and ZephyrPawn combined G-Powers. He even paused for a moment after Justin had completed his move.

After a few moments of silence, the Aquos brawler erupted in laughter. "AHAHAHAHAHAH! That's a good one!" He wasn't sure if Justin had noticed, but Blake's eyes were glowing blue the entire time, which meant he was activating an ability during ZeoFlaire's attack. He gestured to the injured Kaibaron who, much to the surprise of the audience, vanished into thin air. Blake then laughed maniacally as he pointed upwards. "Ability Activate!" he shouted with a wicked glee, "Roo Switcher!"

"Hrah!" Kaibaron shouted as he dove downwards from where he had jumped in order to dodge Eagle's Freedom. He swung his sword in a downward cleaving arc as he prepped his attack. he landed on the ground and slashed the Gate Card. Instead of the Gate Card shattering, it pulsed with a blue light, indicating a change in ownership. "Gate Card Open! Triangular Prison! AHAHAHAHA!" A magic circle with a triangle in the middled appeared on the field under ZeoFlaire. The triangle became a transparent blue prison that locked the Ventus bakugan inside.

"AHAHAHAHA!" Blake laughed maniacally, "Now let's use another attack! Get him Kaibaron!" "With pleasure!" Kaibaron brandished his sword and charged at the eagle. He swung with all of his might and hoped to catch the trapped ZeoFlaire on his blade.

(Roo Switcher: Negate enemy Gate Card or transfer 400G. Switch out enemy Gate Card with one of your own. I transfer 400G

I open the gate: Triangular Prison: Negate all enemy effects. User loops an effect from their bakupack. I loop Straightened Harrowing (Double user's G-Power and transfer 400G per turn.))

Ventus ZeoFlaire: 0G

Justin became a bit nervous as his bakugan was trapped in Kaibaron's Triangular Prison. However, he wasn't ready to give up yet as the Aquos brawler laughed maniacally.

His eyes flashed green as he shouted, "Ability Card Activate, Storm Pawn Set! You're not the only one who is good at misdirection, Blake!" As Kaibaron slashed through the triangular prison, the bakugan inside was returned to ball form and sent to Jason's hand.

Zeoflaire and Zephyr Pawn stood on the field, unscathed by Kaibaron's attack.

Justin didn't stop there, "Ability Activate! Zephyr: Blow Bomb!" ZeoFlaire and Zephyr Pawn charged up powerful balls of energy in their hands. They released the energy which split into multiple missiles that created a hailstorm attack upon the opponent.

"Eat this!"

Storm Pawn Set: Send in a pawn as a substitute. Make my bakugan 150G over the opponents if my G is lower. (substitute doesn't count toward life gauge)

Zephyr: Blow Bomb: gives me the advantage in the brawl and changes the opponents bakugan name to anything else. I'll change it to "Anything Else."

Blake laughed as Kaibaron was pelted by the hailstorm of energy unleashed by ZeoFlaire and Zephyr Pawn. His opponent was quite the brawler, and it was also such a bonus that he was facing a fellow master of misdirection. He busted out laughing again, this was going to be the most unpredictable match of the tournament.

As the explosion rocked the arena, dust cleared to reveal a powerful knight standing where Kaibaron once stood. Blake held up a ring of twisted metal on his right finger. The ring was glowing with radiant blue energy. "Evo-Gear Enhance! Neo Spectra! AHAHAHAHA! You ready Kaibaron!?" Kaibaron nodded as he brandished his sword, "As ready as I'll ever be!"

"AHAHAHAHA!" Blake laughed with glee, "Let's knock 'em dead! Kaibaron, attack! AHAHAHAHAHA!"" "Certainly!" The blue knight shouted as he swung his blade at the two Ventus bakugan.

(Evo-Gear: Neo Spectra: Negate all enemy effects.

"ZeoFlaire, Zephyr Pawn! UP!!!" Justin shouted as Kaibaron swung his sword at the two Ventus bakugan. The simple attack missed allowing the two bakugan to be untouchable in the air for a short while before they formulated a counter attack.

"This guy's pretty tough!" ZeoFlaire shouted at his partner while Zephyr Pawn nodded in agreement.

"Don't worry," Justin reassured, his confidence returning, "I've got this. Ability Activate! "Flare Blind!"

Two orbs formed in ZeoFlaire's hand. The green light from them flashed as the missiles created a radiant light that was intended to blind Kaibaron as Zephyr Pawn rushed in for a powerful kick.

Flare Blind: You may negate any of the opponents move and prevent the opponent from using ability cards.

Justin: 2550G
Blake: 0G

[Blake Hardweather]

"AHAHAHAHAHA!" Blake cackled. "Now, things are just starting to get interesting! Whaddya' say Kaibaron? Feel like playing a risky game?" Kaibaron shook his head, 'We'll end up doing it even if I say no. Here we go." The armored knight flashed his sword and stood in a battle-ready position. "Come at me birds! I'll clip your wings!"

Blake's eyes flashed brightly with blue light as his CDS activated a powerful combo, Ability Activate! Psycho Path!" Kaibaron pointed his sword at his opponent and fired a beam that burst through the missiles. The attack dissipated the burst of energy, destroying them instantly. Blake cackled as he activated another command.

"AHAHAHAHAHA! Double Ability Activate! Maniac Booster and Exo-Blade!" Kaibaron started to glow radiantly with blue energy as a powerful aura surrounded him. His blade glowed with the energy as well as it became transformed. The blade grew wider and longer as the tip of the blade expanded and formed a semicircle. "How about one more, Blake?" Kaibaron shouted, only being half sarcastic.

"Great idea!" Blake snapped his fingers together as he shouted a final command. "Special Ability Activate! In Sanity!" Kaibaron charged at ZeoFlaire. As he neared his opponent, Kaibaron disappeared. He then split into several versions of himself and started to teleport in a crazy fashion around the Ventus bakugan, intending on striking at him from all sides.

(Psycho Path: Negate all enemy abilities. Transfer 400G from all enemy bakugan.

Maniac Booster: User's effects are doubled. User gains 1 extra ability card count.

Exo-Blade: Transfer 400G from all enemy bakugan. User is protected from all enemy effects. I transfer 800G

In Sanity: Change all enemy attributes. User may copy one used enemy effect. I change ZeoFlaire's attribute to Subterra and I copy 2 effects.

I copy Flare Blind: You may negate any of the opponents move and prevent the opponent from using ability cards.

I also copy Zephyr: Blow Bomb: gives me the advantage in the brawl and changes the opponents bakugan name to anything else. I'll change it to "Anything Else.")

ZeoFlair gulped, "Uh...Justin? I could use a little bit of help over here!" He tried to move around and dodge as Kaibaron unleashed a flurry of attacks. Zephyr Pawn go in the way of the first few attacks. Kaibaron made short work of his as the eagle bakugan was returned to ball form. "Uh...Justin!?"

Justin nodded, his opponent was tough. He used misdirection and deception to his advantage. However, he knew what this attack was.

"You're good Blake. I've gotta admit, unlike the other two members of the Sky Reavers, I kind of like your style. However, I have to win this match. If I don't, Jason and Gin will never forgive me. We're going to the finals together." He held up his hand and revealed a glowing green ring. "Evo-Gear, Enhance! ZenAvisX! 400G!"

ZeoFlaire suddenly transformed to a more heavily armored ninja, he grew two wings under his two original ones. "Alright!" He shouted. "Let's brawl!" He made a movement that looked like teleportation as he clashed with Kaibaron. The two bakugan were constantly jumping around the field clashing and charging at each other. After about four minutes, Kaibaron had swung his sword at ZeoFlaire who disappeared and reappeared behind Kaibaron. "It's a shame that you aren't as fast as me. I was looking for a challenger."

ZeoFlaire's fist glowed with energy as he punched Kaibaron with all of his might.

ZenAvisX: +400G: Negate any move or card the opponent uses.

Blake watched in amazement as Kaibaron and ZeoFlaire clashed with incredible speed. However, even he could see the predictability in this fight. ZeoFlaire's enhancement was increasing his speed tenfold.

"Ah." Blake sighed as his bakugan returned to his hand. His speech, for once, sounded perfectly serious and logical. "It seems that you and your bakugan are in perfect sync. It's something that Kaibaron and I lack. You two have improved since the last time we met. I will enjoy our next encounter." He saluted Justin with two fingers and turned and walked away.

As he left, Kaibaron popped up and asked, "So why did you let that kid win?" Blake shook his head, "Not a clue. Something about him reminded him of Scarecrow, the side that no one sees." "Hmm. How thoughtful of you." "Also, I bet a lot of money on him, so he better win! AHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Justin shook his head. That Blake guy was crazy. He laughed as he waved good bye to his opponent and turned around. You never know what kind of people you would find in this tournament.

"So what now?" ZeoFlaire asked his partner.

"I dunno. I hear that a battle royale is about to start. Let's go watch it. Sounds fun right?" ZeoFlaire chuckled, "You always were the carefree one."
