Season 4, Ep 8: Hell Blade

With the Showcase match over, the eight remaining contestants were rested and ready to compete in the second round of the Final Sixteen. The first match is between Jason Cross and Makuto Kimashiro, another member of Shadow Storm. Unlike Jason's last opponent, Makuto has been undefeated in his entire WC Circuit career. Many critics think that this has to do with the unusual Evo-Gear he uses, Hell Blade, an Evo-Gear that has seen no equal. Will Jason prevail and move on to the third round, or will his dream stop here?

Jason stepped onto the battlefield and was greeted by the sound of cheering fans, "Jason, Jason, Jason!" He waved at the crowd, trying to look appealing. Spikore, who was also in quite the cheerful mood, floated around his partner's general area and "waved" at the crowd. Jason beamed with pride, "Can you believe it Spikore? We're in the second round! This is incredible!" Spikore landed on the Subterra brawler's shoulder. "It's pretty awesome, but don't let your guard down, our opponent is from the Shadow Storm group. I can bet you that he won't be an easy opponent to defeat, not to mention he has never lost a Circuit brawl. Let's just pray to Gaia that we can be the ones to break his streak."

Jason nodded, "Got it bud." He turned to face his opponent, Makuto Kimashiro. 'So, you're my opponent huh? I've heard you're really good, but I'll have you know that Spikore and I will be moving on to round three, plain and simple. Setting Gate Card!" The floor pulsed with a golden-brown energy, "Gate Card Set! Bakugan Brawl!" He grabbed Spikore and flung him on to the field, "Stand, Subterra Spikore!" A dust tornado appeared where Spikore's bakugan ball landed. When the dust settled, the brown dragonoid was revealed to be standing in the middle of the field. "Alright! Let's do this!"

Makuto walked into the battle field feeling enthusiastic about his second round brawl against Jason Cross. He had heard stories that this brawler wants to be the best in the world and he had been climbing up the charts like a monkey after bananas. But no matter to him as he saw that Jason was loved by the crowd of people that roared out his name. He looked round the stadium then focused on Jason as they intended to break his long going un-defeated record. He saw that the gate had already been set. He still kept silent.

He let out a grin. "Well, I see your in a haste to begin." He said in a calm motion as his Bakugan popped onto his shoulder smirking. "Makuto! I hear he is good but with the help of Hell Blade we will prevail." It said. Makuto Nodded. "Bakugan Brawl!" He shouted out as the Baku-ball was released and spun on the card it rose as a red tornado surrounded it until its whole body was show. A Pyrus Bakugan was shown as it landed silently. "Demontrust stand!" He shouted out as the crowd began to roar as the battle was about to get into full force! "Lets Brawl!" Demontrust ahouted as the roars continued.

The two bakugan dragon stood on the field, face-to-face. After a few minutes of Jason and Spikore assessing their opponents, Spikore turned around to look at Jason. They both nodded and Spikore snapped his head back around to look at Demontrust. Jason's eyes flashed brown as the field started to change. The sun suddenly became extremely bright and the floor became covered in sand. The sun reflected off the sand, causing the ground to be extremely hot. These conditions, however, didn't bother Spikore in the least bit. In fact, the glaring sun and hot sand reminded him of home.

"Gate Card Open!" Jason shouted, "Perilous Sands!" After Jason shouted the command into his CDS, geysers of hot sand went off, spraying scalding sand everywhere. The geysers continuously shot into the air from all points of the field. On top of the fact that they were spraying burning hot sand everywhere, just the sheer pressure of force from the geysers would be enough to damage most bakugan that weren't native to those conditions.

"Here we go Spikore!" Jason continued, "Ability Activate! Vicious Arsenal!" "Alright!" Spikore shouted, pleased that Jason was picking his favorite ability, "Give me some toys to play with!" "Got it!" Jason acknowledged his partner. "Support Weapons, Launch! Meta Mace! Soul Shield!" A mace, similar to a BakuNano-styled weapon, appeared in Spikore's hand. However, in his other hand, a glowing orb appered. The orb of energy morphed into a glowing energy shield that was almost as large as Spikore. Spikore flew towards Demontrust, dodging, and sometimes, going through the geysers without taking any damage. He then swung his mace at the Pyrus bakugan and shouted, "Eat this!"

(Gate Card: Perilous Sands: Change enemy bakugan description to "This bakugan may only use the cards of "____". "_____" being whatever bakugan that the user of this card owns. Double the user's effects and G-Power. Your bakugan my only use Gargylon's cards. (He has none).

Ability: Vicious Arsenal: User may turn one card in their bakupack into a SW. User may throw out 2 SW. Transfer 200G per SW in play or take control of the gate card. I have doubled effects so I will turn two cards into SWs. I choose Desert Army and Soul Shield and I throw them out at 0G. I also throw Meta Mace and Gaia Gauntlet out at 400G each. I transfer 400G per SW in play, which is 4, so I transfer 1600G.

Next I activate the effect of Desert Army: Create a clone of Spikore for every bakugan and SW on the field. Each clone transfers 150G from the opponent. So I create 2 for every bakugan and SW on the field so I make 12 Clones. They each transfer 300G, that's a total of 3600G

I activate the effect of Soul Shield: User is protected from all enemy effects. Double user's G-Power and reduce enemy G-Power to 0G. My G-Power is quadrupled.)

Makuto watched as the battle got more intense. The battle-field became sandy and as his Bakugan got out of its comfort zone. Demontrust was reduced t his lowest point in the battle so far. Demontrust got hit so badly that it needed another help from another Bakugan. Makuto's eyes turned dark red. It looked like he was very angry at the way his Bakugan was being treated during this Battle. There was a connection. As Demontrust started glowing dark red as Makuto also started glowing he let out a somewhat Demonic grin. Demontrust kept on being hit by these attack as he was still glowing as much damage had been done to the pyrus Bakugan.

Makuto let out another grin. "Demontrust it's time. EVO GEAR UNLEASE! GO HELL BLADE!" He shouted out in a very deep voice. The blood sword was grabbed by Demontrust. He continued glowing red. As he rushed towards Spikore. (Due to the effect of hell blade.) It slashed Spikore continuously. "Ability Activate! Molted Larva Phase 1: ( Any effect that has affected any of the two players before can only be used by 'Makuto' as from that point in battle further on. Excluding Negations. Transfer 400G until opponents G-levels hit 0. You may not be prevented from activating cards.)" Demontrust kept attacking with hell blade viciously as the blade began to glow and started to add more effect to the attacks. Demontrust charged a beam and shot it straight at Spikore. "TAKE IT" Demontrust shouted as the beam headed for Spikore.

"What the-?" Jason was completely baffled by Makuto's Evo-Gear. An Evo-Gear was a device that changed the genetic structure of a bakugan, giving it a pseudo evolution. This bakugan suddenly had a weapon in his hand. It would make sense if it was a Support Weapon, but an Evo-Gear? On top of that, the Evo-Gear hadn't changed Demontrust phisically in any way. "So Makuto, I'm not entirely sure about this, but it seems that instead of changing your bakugan's genetics in any of the physical ways, Hell Blade increases his power tremendously, making him able to create a sword out of nothing. Am I right? No matter, we'll just have to take you down anyways. Spikore! You've gotta block that attack!"

"Got it!" Spikore raised his shield and rammed forward. Unfortunately, it was shattered by the sheer power of the Hell Blade. The Meta Mace was also destroyed with that attack. Spikore started to dodge the attacks until it began to wear him out. "Jason!" he shouted, "I need some help here!" Jason nodded and shouted a command through his CDS, "Ability Activate! Vulcan Hammer!" Another glowing orb appeared in Spikore's hand. This one morphed into a massive hammer. Spikore retaliated with a series of swings. "You may think that your tough because you can make weapons now, but I've always been able to do that!"

(Copy one of opponents already used effects. Reduce enemy G-Power to the number of cards that they played before this card was activated. Enemy G-Power cannot go higher than that amount. I will copy your SW and negate all of your effects. {Good thing I never copied any effects last turn})

Makuto had a mind of accomplishment in him as Jason was totally shocked by the power of Hell Blade. Jason also noticed the concept of Hell Blade and why Makuto had gotten so many wins with the help of this Evo-Gear of his. He smirked as Jason was still confident about this brawl and thought he still had a chance with only Spikore. Makuto thought he was crazy actually and let out a snake like grin. Demontrust on the other hand still with hell blade was still glowing a very dark shade of red. Even darker than the one of before. it showed the anger that built up within him and Makuto. As he got weaker again but hell blade was still at in play. Not at his full potential yet. Demontrust was able to get up on his feet after using that much power.

Makuto laughed in an angry motion. "Do you really think that is all you need? Wow, Pathetic."Demontrust used a little more of his power to charge up a larger beam from hell blade as this would cause a lot more Damage. "Snipe it! Special Ability Activate! Shutdown Axis:(Reflect all opponents effects. Double your G-Levels. Add 1 Card Count.)
You cannot win Jason!" Those were the words of Makuto as before the beam was released it grew larger as and darker from the tip of Hell Blade the beam was shot at an incredible pace as Demontrust charged Slashing Spikore from different positions re-appearing and disappearing slashing without control as the excessive flame kept burining Spikore as massive fire balls were released from Demontust's mouth similar to Boosted Dragon as the slashing continued. "You're going down hard!" Demontrust exclaimed.

"Hraaaah!" Spikore shouted as he swung his massive hammer at Demontrust. Try as he may, he was unable to to land a single hit on the Pyrus bakugan. "Dangit! Hold still!" What worried Jason about was that Demontrust was continuously growing a darker shade of red. What exactly was he doing? He was even more concerned when Makuto activated his ability. The beam attack from Shutdown Axis hit. Although it didn't do a lot of damage, it created a distraction, which was all that Demontrust needed.

The Subterra brawler watched as his bakugan was at the mercy of Demontrust's various slashing attacks. Spikore did his best to dodge and block, but the task became more difficult when the Pyrus foe started shooting fireballs out of his mouth. As Spikore struggled to fend off the onslaught, Jason watched in shock as Demontrust's Hell Blade shattered Spikore's Vulcan Hammer. Jason shook his head, he couldn't let this go on.

"Ability Activate!" Jason shouted, "Spike Rain!" Spikore quickly dodged one of Demontrust's attacks and flew into the air over his foe's head. He held his two arms towards his opponent as his gauntlet-like hands morphed into something that looked like two gatling guns. The guns started to ratate as they released hundreds of sharp, needle-like spikes at Demontrust. "Go down!"

(Ability: Spike Rain: Negate all enemy ability cards. Switch the enemy gate card with your own. If it is your gate card, loop an effect. It's my gate so I'll loop.

I loop Core Blaster: All enemy non guardian bakugan and SWs are sent back to opponent's bakupack. Opponent is prevented from playing normal abilites. User may throw out an extra Support Weapon. So Hell Blade is officially sent back and you may not play normals. I also choose not to throw out a SW.)

Makuto got more serious as he saw that Jason had stepped it up a notch in his brawling during this brawl. The large spikes from the gun held by Subterra Spikore, hit Demontrust hard, very hard as Demontrust was knocked down as the spikes kept hitting him causing alot of pain to the Pyus Bakugan that tried to show no pain but as he tried harder the pain got more intensive as the Bakugan screamed in pain as he was knocked down. Down and almost finished from the brawl. Makuto saw that his Bakugan could not endure any more of this excessive strength shown by the Subterra Bakugan. The smoke from Demontrust's fall almost cleared. Demontrust was almost help-less with hell blade still in his hands but the Bakugan was almost done and done.

Makuto got angry at the sight of his Bakugan being destroyed by Spikore he looked at Jason eye to eye. "Impressive. I'm really impressed by this. But its time it stopped. Ability Activate! Shadow Meltdown!" She shouted out. Demontrust then disappeared from that spot andas he appeared behind Spikore and stabbed Spikore as the sword was glowing red burning the insides of Spikore. Then as it grabbed Spikore its hands began to emit Larva. as it burned Spikore to the ground, Demontrust was still glowing as wit flew up and blasted several fire balls at the Spikore. " I AM THE ULTIMATE PYRUS BRAWLER! FUSION ABILITY ACTIVATE! MOLTED LARVA: FINAL PHASE!" Makuto shouted. as he began laughing. Demontrust got the orders as he made a massive ball made of Larva and Flames . Very Dangerous. He threw it straight at Spikore as several more followed it. "GO DOWN!"Shouted Demontrust.

Shadow Meltdown: Shadow Meltdown: (Loop 1 effect in your Bakupack.Negate/reflect any effects or protect everything of yours from being affected by the opponent.)

I'll Loop Molted Larva: Phase 2: (Copy the effects used by opponent. Once an effect has been copied by user only, cannot be used again. Double your G-levels.)

Molted Larva: Final Phase: (Prevents opponent from using any relation to any of the 'Molted Larva Series'. Can take the effect of any of the series). Fused with Phase 1!

I pick the effect of doubling G-Levels from Phase 2.

Jason was continuously impressed as Makuto and Demontrust continued to counteract his and Spikore's attacks. The bakugan had instantly disappeared and then reappeared behind Spikore, stabbing him in the back. "Gyahhh!" Spikore let out a shout as he fell towards the ground. Jason watched as the falling Spikore was followed by massive fireballs. He blinked and stared for a moment. This was not a good situation. However, every problem has a solution. Spikore landed on the ground with a thud. He struggled to get up, but had done so quickly enough so that Jason could formulate a counterattack.

Jason's eyes flashed a golden brown as he shouted, "Ability Activate! Archaion Buster!" Spikore formed a massive golden brown orb in his hands. It became so large that it was almost half his size. When the size was desirable for Spikore, he flung the orb at Demontrust with all of his might. The orb absorbed all of the fireballs, making the projectile bigger as it intended on ramming into the Pyrus bakugan. "Now, fall!" Spikore grunted.

(Ability: Archaion Buster: Negate all enemy effects. Change enemy bakugan description to "This bakugan may only use the cards of "____". "_____" being whatever bakugan that the user of this card owns. Reduce enemy G-Power to 0G. You already are forced to use cards, I'm just using this because I don't feel like wasting any of my limits and I never actually used this limit since it was on a gate card.)

Makuto was shocked that Jason was able to formulate a very impressive counter on his move. He was as Jason waited for his Bakugan to fall which gave him more time to think in order for him not to make any hasty or costly mistakes. Makuto was particularly impressed by the sheer power shown by Jason Cross during this brawl. Makuto knew that he had to give it all he had for the rest of the brawl or else his winning streak would be in dangerous threat.
After all that thought he watched silently as the Orb wacked Demontrust to the ground. "ARRG!" The pyrus Bakugan screamed out as it dropped to the ground.

Makuto's rage grew larger as he started glowing in different shades of red. "Ability Activate! Larva Overload!" Demontrust got up to its feet and ran towards Spikore in destructive speed as he stabbed through Spikore into its chest. The Bakugan removed the sword and stabbed through the Bakugan continuously as the Pyrus Bakugan got more angry unknown to Makuto the reason of his Bakugan's Sudden rage. Suddenly, flames began spraying out from the sword and all over the body of Demontrust at it went straight for Spikore the sword was thrown at Spikore as it turned in pure flames but still in a swords form. Then Demontrust charged a massive red electric/falme ball that contained alot of power from the Pyrus Bakugan it was thrown at Spikore with alot of pace on it. "GET DOWN PARASITE!" It shouted.

"Gyaaah!" Spikore shouted as he was constantly bombarded with thrusts and slashes by Demontrust. The combination of attacks were so rapid, that they kept the Subterra bakugan from counterattacking. Jason guessed that there was probably less than half a second between successive strokes of the Hell Blade. There was literally no room for Jason to do anything. This attack, Larva Overload, was a living nightmare. He was helpless to do anything. Was this it? Was the true power of Shadow Storm really too much for him.

Jason shook his head. Even though he was being consistently barraged by this attack, Spikore wouldn't let him get up. An image of Spikore smiling at Jason and saying, "What have I told you? You can't win in life if you don't have a little bit of faith." appeared at the forefront of his mind. Jason nodded as if Spikore was actually talking to him. Jason glared at the scene with intensity and focus. He watched as Demontrust stepped back and threw his sword, followed by a flaming ball of electricity, at Spikore. As Spikore's impending doom neared him, Jason spoke to Makuto, "Well, I see that the power of Shadow Storm lives up to its reputation. However," Jason's eyes suddenly narrowed, His brain had suddenly stepped into complete and total focus, "I will surpass you."

An explosion rocked the arena. A massive cloud of dust appeared, obscuring the vision of everyone in the arena, including Jason and Makuto. There was a moment of sheer silence as many thought that Spikore was defeated. When the dust had cleared a massive figure stood in the place of the Subterra bakugan. "I am the Titan of the Earth!" the beast shouted, "I am Gaia's Soldier! I am Spikore!" Jason held up his right hand so that Makuto could see the glowing ring on his finger, indicating that he had activated Spikore's Evo-Gear, Meta Gaia. His eyes were also glowing a golden brown, indicating that he had activated an ability. "Ability Activate," He said calmly, although the ability was already activated, "Cyclone Dust. You see, that dust storm was actually a defense used to deflect all of your attacks. And now, Spikore, attack!"

Spikore rushed towards Demontrust with all of his might. He started glowing with an immense amount of energy as he intended on knocking out his opponent with one solid punch.

(Meta Gaia was thrown out at 400G. No activation of effects.

Ability: Cyclone Dust: User is protected from all enemy effects. Copy one used ability. Double the effects of that ability.

I copy Shadow Meltdown: Loop 1 effect in your Bakupack. Negate/reflect any effects or protect everything of yours from being affected by the opponent. I will negate everything of yours.

I loop Flash Razor: Negate all enemy Gate Cards and SWs. Opponent's may not use Normal Abilities. Gain 1 extra ability card count. I gain two since my effects are doubled.)

Makuto was extremely baffled by the amazing counter produced by Jason Cross. Jason had managed to over-come the power that makuto had generated from his last attack. He actually thought his last attack could have won it for him. He was also surprised by the perseverance that the Subterra Bakugan and Subterra Brawler had shown throughout this brawl. It was obvious the outcome of this battle after Jasons move. Makuto watched as Demontrust landed on the ground hard as the Bakugan turned into ball form and returned to Makuto. Makuto caught his bakugan as the Bakugan opened up in ball form. "We lost. My Master..." Demontrust uttered. Makuto closed the Bakugan and remained silent as he stared at Jason. You were a great opponent Jason. But, I warn you we will meet again and the outcome would be different." He said Calmly as the crowd cheered for Jason and booed Makuto.

Jason breathed a sigh of relief as Spikore returned to his hand. That match was close, way too close. If he and Spikore had made a single mistake, then their dreams of being Bakugan World Champions were over. Thankfully they won. Jason turned to Makuto in order to congratulate him on a a great brawl, however, Makuto had already left.

"Well," Jason muttered to Spikore, "Someone's bitter." Spikore popped open to speak to his partner. "Yeah, but still, there is something about him and all of these other Shadow Storm members that really bothers me, although I have no idea of what it is. We should be on our guard." Jason nodded, "Agreed. Now buddy, you ready for round three?" "You bet!"
