While Maya was busy hugging me, Lythirus somehow came back to life and enacted a last-ditch move to defeat Phosphos and the Serpenoid. As he did this, the Belphenoid that threatened to kill me earlier showed up out of nowhere via teleportation. Phosphos attempted to finish him off for good, but Lythirus thought one step ahead of her by using the Acid Bath ability on her face to cloud her vision. He began battering her numerous times with his fierce pincers, but off in the distance, Belphenoid was planning to use an attack of his own. Viper saw where he was aiming, so he told half of the Serpenoid to attack Belphenoid while the other half deals with Lythirus. Unfortunately, this proved to be a fatal tactic when Belphenoid was done charging his attack. After telling Maya and I to observe the preview of what's coming our way, he shot a massive blast in Lythirus' direction. The Serpenoid that were deployed to engage Lythirus immediately began combating him and removing the poison off of Phosphos, but it was already too late. Belphenoid's attack hit, and, surprisingly, it did not appear to be aimed directly at Phosphos, but at Lythirus. He shot his own subordinate in the back, which not only killed him, but all of the Serpenoid that were near Phosphos were destroyed from the aftermath, leaving Phosphos the only survivor from the ability despite being severely injured by the series of abilities. I expected such things to come from a Bakugan as evil as Belphenoid, but Lythirus' dying words made it even worse when he expressed his confusion on why that would be done to him after remaining loyal throughout numerous back-stabbings. Following the colossal hit, Viper and the remaining Serpenoid attempted to avenge their fallen brothers and sisters, but even in a pack, they were no match. Belphenod made short work of them through an ability called Shadow Burner. The scene depicted through the screams Viper and the Serpenoid made as they burned to ashes was too horrifying for any eight-year-old to be subjected to. Although this was a heartless feeling, at least we wouldn't have to worry about snakes being in the sewer anymore.
As Maya and I stood there in shock, Belphenoid jokingly asked me if I thought he wasn't serious when he said he'll be back to get me. He took his time walking towards us just to prolong the torture. Since we weren't aware that Phosphos was still alive, we were thinking that we truly were about to die this time. Thankfully, due to Maya's observant eye, our survival was not entirely out of the question. She noticed Phosphos blink her right eye once at us to let us know she was playing dead. Maya then chose to stall Belphenoid until Phosphos regained a portion of her strength. She asked Belphenoid to answer a certain question of hers before he kills us. He stated there was no point in answering anything since we're not going to be alive to comprehend anything he says to us. I supported her on this one and argued that it's more satisfying for the victim to know why you're killing them versus the boring method of slicing and dicing. This started an argument with the Bakugan. He ranted about how what I just said to him didn't make any sense since there was hardly a difference in the joy it brings him to end certain lives. Maya then asked him if he was really sure about that after choosing to eat Seiki's second family rather than blasting them like he did to the Serpenoid just now. Infuriated, Belphenoid angrily responded that he wasn't due to eat anything until a couple of hours after that attack, hinting that Bakugan need to eat too. She pissed him off even more by criticizing his menu options while humans never made the decision to eat Bakugan despite some of their species closely relating to the animals on Earth. Belphenoid called her an idiot for making that statement due to Bakugan being inedible to humans because of their attribute powers alone. It was by this time that he had enough of our stupid comments and attempted to kill us.
By this time, Phosphos had recovered enough to launch Spit Poison at Belphenoid. Her venom had greatly weakened because of Belphenoid's work earlier, so the poison was only good for temporarily paralysis. Phosphos admitted that she'd have to withdraw from the fight for now since she doesn't have the strength necessary to defeat the Belphenoid. She painfully returned to ball form and landed in my hand. She told us both that we only had five minutes to get away from Belphenoid before he is cured of the poison. She gave us specific directions on where to go, so we ran as fast as we could as Belphenoid launched many blasts at us. After going through many twists and turns, we found an entrance to a mysterious tunnel. We were told to go inside. Once we did, Phosphos told me to release her so she can ensure Belphenoid doesn't wander in here after us. I summoned her, and she caved the entrance in to make it inaccessible to Belphenoid. She then returned to ball form and warned both Maya and I to keep our attention span to its highest level and not to make any loud noises. I wondered if she could have taken her own advice since she made a lot of noise caving the entrance in. She acknowledged that and told us to speed run away from there. Maya wondered what was down here hat made her want us to not make too much noise. I had an idea of what could have been down here among us, but judging by the response Phosphos gave about it being better if we didn't know, I just kept the thought to myself since I didn't want to get in another argument with Maya over the local wildlife scare tactics. I could only imagine that when Belphenoid regains use of his body and notices where he went, he would happily not follow us in here.
