"Thank you!" Apollonir celebrated. He didn't need to hear anything the spider was saying inside that building. "Hearing that thing talk was more torturing than smelling Excedra's breath."
A portal opened up near them and spat out Daniel, Kuzuha, and Oberus. "Ah. All in a day's..." Oberus paused when she saw the masked person and Diablo still active. "...work?"
"Something wrong?"
"Yes...we just destroyed Diablo along with a few other of this kid's previous targets before coming over here... I guess we didn't?"
"No...you didn't...they must have transferred their consciousness somewhere else and left insulting copies to distract you with. However it was done...it costed someone their life..."
"Oh...well, that's more depressing than being told by a kid to shut up because I make too much noise..."
Vince was doing something that wasn't quite normal in a tragedy like this. He was smiling while watching Markus battle.
"Nevermind the details," Vince interrupted with his arms crossed. "I need this area secured. We do not leave until that Dragonoid and its owner cease to exist. Let's make it quick. This might get dangerous."

Hades still had this peculiar Oberus clone attached to it. Unless the masked person wanted to find out what a Legendary Soldier's power looks like in an unfriendly manner, this masked fellow would have to do exactly what Vince says. It was such a pain to be forced to give in to this blackmail when there's Hurranians around.
"Hm..." The masked person saw that Kuzuha was sporting attire that was highly resembling Alana's Hydranoid. The spells she used must have been really powerful in that state. No wonder why his/her worse counterpart chose to run than to spend too much time dealing with him. It spoke well of his skills in battle.
Looking back to Markus, the masked person could sense the need for vengeance. Who were any of them to deprive him of that? This was his fight. If Markus could see it through, then they were going to let him.
"Go on then, Markus...Kill her!" he/she edged on.

MAC Spider being destroyed so easily was not that much of a shocker. It wasn't primarily built for combat anyway. In the end, that was its downfall. "Not bad...you seem to pose more of a threat than the Silver Knight right now," the masked person noticed, obviously. "It's because of her, isn't it?"
The masked person's body changed his/her appearance to match that of Roxy's. Due to her infection, her genetic code was within their database. Roxy could be anywhere now. It's the dream that Markus should not live to see any longer.
"She's not truly dead, as long as she is with us," the mimicry described in Roxy's exact voice. Then she cackled. "Ability activate! Close Flame!"
Diablo retained the knee cannon extensions from its previous form, Fabros. With it, it deployed a dozen pieces of steel into the sky. Those pieces turned out to be cannons. They were pointed downward and unleashed a devastating beam surrounded by fire.

"You're only half right, idiot," Markus replied, getting angrier by the second now that this masked person had the audacity to insult Roxy with this sham of a Hurranian representation. It was beyond ugly; it was disgusting.
"She's not with you; she's with me, always," Markus fired back, thumb pointing to himself. "You'll never recreate who you just took from me! Ability activate! Calamity Blade!"
Gargulion clasped his hands together and generated an energy sword construct that dwarfed him by a considerable range. He swiped it upwards to completely cut through Diablo's attack, sending a violent wave crashing through Diablo's path. Pretty soon, Diablo would find itself crushed by the sheer pressure of Gargulion's overhead swing down on top of its head.

Getting blown back by an opponent was a shocking surprise. This form of Gargulion was posing a serious threat, something the masked person only figured Hades or one of the Legendary Soldiers would do at this juncture. What a sight to behold.
"Ability activate! Geothermal Rush!" Powering up via geothermal energy, this Second Layer-esque ability. Tarry black and red smoke rose from the ground and ate its way into part of Gargulion's blade so that Diablo would never get struck by it. This defensive move also acted offensively when this same energy traveled throughout the area like tentacles to incinerate Gargulion on contact.
"Sure I will. Didn't you notice when your cousin was revived? He tried to impede our progress," he/she mentioned. "That certainly seems more personal than just a thought in your head. Am I wrong?"

"100% wrong," Markus fired back. "I'd rather think about them as they were then see them as shadows of their former selves. The only thing I take personally about seeing them was that they're being made in your image, and I hate that!"
Diablo was undeniably strong since it wielded the powers of three super-powerful Pyrus Bakugan, but that wasn't going to be enough. Even if it was an army, Markus was going to persevere. Never give up; that was his way forward, not backward.
"Ability activate! Frame Creation!" Gargulion exchanged his Subterra Frame's power for the Aquos Frame. Generating two beams of light from each palm of his hand and then merging them together, Gargulion forged a combination of Ventus and Aquos: the Ice Frame. This new Gargulion had frozen spikes protrude from its body that cooled down the energy Diablo was utilizing.
"Scatter," Markus menacingly ordered. The Ice Gargulion continuously broke its protruded spikes down to pelt Diablo continuously with them. Each one had enough cutting power to cut through several buildings.
"Begone!" Gargulion used his Ventus power to push the Ice Gargulion towards Diablo. It impaled it to enter its body. Blades of ice multiplied within Diablo's frame instantly.

Diablo has reached over half of the allowable damage it could receive within normal parameters. Things were not looking very good, but that's where Drago's power would come in handy.
"You hate us? Awwww. How unfortunate. We like you though. Your power, your sense of justice, your way of thinking, all of it is fascinating. We only wish to learn more," the masked person played off. "Ability activate! FARBAS MX!"
"FARBAS System activated. Repairing 55% damage." Just like the previous variant, FARBAS EX, FARBAS MX repaired the damage done to its body thanks to Drago's healing factor. What was different came in the name of the ability; the "m" stood for mythic, coming directly from Drago's manipulation of a mythical creature: the phoenix.
It surrounded its body to instantly melt the ice away, leading to the Ice Gargulion's vaporization. Diablo's color scheme became orange while under its influence and received the same benefits Drago normally would when imbued with the power of his Nova Sentry: temporary invulnerability provided it can withstand the energy output of the opponent. With Hurranian assistance, there was barely anything that was too much to ask for.
"We should really move on to your companions. You will not beat me, no matter how much you scream and cry," the masked person asserted. Diablo put one arm forward, and the scorching firestorm that ensued would easily wipe the concrete from the face of Vestal.

Gargulion was struggling to withstand this firestorm like a human would against strong wind. Just as Gargulion was contemplating kneeling down to provide a better resistance than the one he had standing up, something touched him to push him back up. Markus also felt this presence too. Whatever it was laid hands on his shoulder.
"Huh...?" Markus turned to his side and could somehow see Roxy there. Aquarius was also keeping Gargulion from showing any weakness. It must have been a hallucination of some kind, but it wasn't a bad one. Seeing it served as a reminder for what Markus had been encouraging her to do all along: keep pushing, even if the current circumstances said it is unlikely or impossible.
"Okay. We'll do this together, one more time," Markus nodded in acceptance. "Ability activate! Soul Seizure!" A visible distortion in the air twisted Diablo's firestorm as it entered Gargulion's body like a twister. Although this energy would ultimately be assimilated, Gargulion's body was noticeably scorched from its power, shown through the red cracks visible along his frame.
"Too much energy..." Gargulion's body started burning in that same intensity, but with a purple coloration on those flames. "And you're about to get it right back!"
"Ability activate! Active Frenzy!" Gargulion released all of the energy he just absorbed, making it impossible for the enemy to transfer it back. Once this was done, a line shot straight from Gargulion's eyes to Diablo's. It took less than a second for Gargulion to appear in its face and bombard it with punches and kicks that were just as strong as Diablo's power.

Diablo was affected by each hit. Its body was flailing in accordance to the blows Gargulion was dishing out. The invulnerability was pretty much wasted. What a bummer.
"Warning. Hull damage critical. Farbros notified the masked person.
"Whatever is still giving you hope, I admire it. At the same time, I want it eliminated," the masked person made clear. "Ability activate! Iceberg!"
Farbros covered its body in a bluish flame. Making contact with Gargulion proved to be the latter's undoing as he became petrified in an ice-like substance. This was a biological weapon designed to affect those who are not Hurranians. Victims of this ability are encased in a shell that is impenetrable from within, unless you have the proper DNA.
"Farewell, my surprising opponent," the masked person complimented, slightly.

Gargulion's spirit form had materialized within the encasement and seeped out of it without any trouble. Once he was outside, he grew into a muscular specter whose height easily overlooked that of Diablo's. This stunt costed two quarters of Markus' life gauge, but the price was worth it.
"Yeah...farewell," Markus returned. "And never...come back! Ability activate! Infiltration Spirit!" Gargulion simply tapped Diablo with one finger. The mechanical Dragonoid glowed in the same green color as Gargulion's spirit form was. This energy fed off of Diablo's immense power level to grow in power itself, all the way up to its cap. This was actually another Gargulion growing inside its body, and since it had accumulated enough energy, it would break out of Diablo and come into existence.

"Really?" Despite the masked person's excellent attempt to kill Gargulion, it just wasn't enough. Markus was just an opponent out of the ordinary. What will definitely work on everyone else did not work against him. This proved to be more true to the eye than previously seen. The Hurranians are the defense mechanisms against any internal struggles, but they were losing.
This was the weakness of being a machine. A living Bakugan could expel this Gargulion with their powers, but a mechanical Bakugan can't do that if its systems were being taken advantage of. Perhaps these Hurranians were just as surprised as the masked person was.
"I don't believe it..." The Gargulion broke out of Diablo's body, destroying it in the process. The amount of force expelled from this move sent the masked person into the ruins of the building he/she destroyed. Debris started tumbling down on him/her, leaving the question of survivability up in the air.

This masked person was nodding in high approval of Markus' skills. This was his defining moment, the one that he would remember for the rest of his life. It resulted in victory. That's a damn fine moment.
"And there goes the sixth Bakugan," he/she announced, citing Diablo as the sixth and final kill. This wasn't counting Hades, of course. It didn't count; it wasn't controlled by the Hurranians.
"Now to glass this disease-ridden city..." Before his/her intentions could be realized, a certain presence was detected on a nearby rooftop to the northeast. The masked person saw this. Hades was boarded, and the duo went to confront this last threat.

Xavier was standing on a nearby rooftop. The look of disbelief on his face showed what he was thinking. He swore that his eyes were deceiving him right now. This amount of destruction was uncalled for. Echo City surely had the echo of death spiraling throughout the city. The smell of it was also readily apparent, but not as putrid as the sight of it all was.
"I...I don't...understand...why..." Xavier had a difficult time taking all of this in. "We had the mechanical Bakugan... How did this happen!?"

"Is it really that difficult to understand?" The masked person appeared three yards behind Xavier. He/she stood there with his/her arms at the hip level. The fists were open, the body was loose, and the look in his/her eyes were very calm. There were zero signs that he/she wanted to include Xavier in the casualty report, or so he/she wanted him to think.
"Did you really guess something good was going to come out of your bad behavior? This was to be expected for scum like you. The only bad news was that one of the Spartans had to go six feet under as your replacement." The masked person then started to step forward. "But that's what I'm here for. I can provide a less than satisfactory remedy for that mistake. It'll be quick and easy, just like your humiliation by my hand before."

Xavier turned around to see this same masked butcher who was responsible for multiple atrocities on Vestal.
"How ironic. A chronic killer is telling someone else that they deserve to die," Xavier responded. "If you're going to kill me, then you should try your hardest to actually do it with a proper purpose. I didn't scam anyone. The only thing I wanted to do was provide for the people of this planet."
Xavier pointed down at the ruined city to make his next point. "THAT is not the kind of provision I wanted for these people, so piss off about me being scum. How about you jump off of this building without Hades saving you so you can join whoever died? You deserve that dishonor."
