This is the thread where I will compile all of the bits and pieces of hidden information that you may now know about the creation of the plot. These posts will not be frequent, but when they are posted, expect some entertaining information to be included in them.
I wanted to start off with the elephant in the room. There's a certain individual in the plot who is seen as a stalker and has an unhealthy attachment to a male character. You know who I'm talking about. It's common knowledge by now that Noland, Allen, and Alana were based off of real people (me being one of them). So the question is....is Yita based off of a real person?
"Yita" was a girl I knew all throughout elementary school. She had a tendency to get involved in situations that she had no business being in (Sound familiar?) and she pulled off some mean tricks (What kid wouldn't?).
When we were in 5th grade, something I did must have given her some pleasant thoughts in her head, because she started behaving this way towards me on a constant basis. Granted, I was never kissed on the lips - I almost didn't get to say never - but everything else happened. She's on my friends list on Facebook, so we still have contact. No, I will not tell you who the specific person is. No, I didn't return her advances. No, I never gave her a chocolate "Noland". Will something different happen in the plot? I don't know. I'm not psychic.
As Shira already had the idea without her knowing I was planning to include someone like this, it was rather easy to include a character like this into the story.
Is there anyone else inspired by real-life people? Duh. Let's talk about a particular character: Allen. He's based off of my best friend, but his brawling style did not come from him. I'll explain.
It goes all the way back to elementary school where I taught myself how to play chess. There was another chess player that was around my skill level. While I was more aggressive in my piece's positioning on the board, he took a more defensive stance, making sure all of his pieces were covered at all times rather than going in for an attack. That's why I made Noland specialize in offense because of this, while Allen specializes in defense.
Now, in regards to Allen resembling my best friend, there's something about him that makes him very similar to Noland. I said that a lot of the things Noland goes through has happened in my life in one way or another. The same goes for Allen in terms of what has happened to him. I can give a few examples of what has happened.
- The part where Noland goes into exile after defeating Barodius, losing contact with Allen in the process...that situation is based on a real rift that occurred between himself and I when "Alana" started causing problems... More on that later.
- Allen working out as a mental distraction to his life problems. Exaggerated from an actual truth.
- The part where Noland and Alana were highly upset at Alana and distanced themselves from her. Real event and is going on RIGHT NOW.
There's one more example I'd like to give, but you'd have to wait for episode 47 to get to a certain point. Just know, that what Allen says is also a real event as well.
I'll end this post with another character based on a real person: Sandra Hardy, or as many of you know her as, Noland's grandmother.
The first and last name belonged to an actual family member of mine who passed away the year I made the plot, so I named the character after her. She is meant to portray my own grandmother.
Her taking Noland and Kendrick under her roof was not just for the sake of story. This was a real event. I remember it as if it were yesterday when it happened. It was in 2014 where my dad and I actually fought (Yes, I mean fist fighting). She took my mother and I in without question. So just replace Kendrick with my mom and the setting is mostly accurate, minus Vince getting sent to the Doom Dimension. We'll talk about Vince next time.
