It only works when you're at the same power level. Otherwise, the opponent attacks.

Okay, back to when I skipped. You were at 400 and me at 500. You skip, lose another 100 Gs, then I attack. Then you can set the gate. Or, you could play an ability to try and give yourself an advantage. You still have the 4 basic cards that you get.
