First Attempt

[Atom]

Okay, so I've never really tried to do any form of story writing RP. This is going to be my first attempt at it, so any suggestions and critiques will be appreciated. Anybody can join in, but not too many all at once. With that said, let's jump right in. The basic plot should be fairly easy to figure out. (And yes, I know this post is long but I'm trying to get it set-up to go in a direction at least similar to what I want to have happen).

Atom traveled between Realities, reflecting on his last conversation with his mother.

"Look, I know that this is a big change for you, but this is me now." He said.
"I, I don't know what to say." Said his mom. He had just explained what he was. "But, if what you say is true." She sighed. "Look, I know that you're still worried about what's out there, but can you at least wait until your father gets home so we can discuss this?"
"I suppose so." Said Atom. He looked to the door and noticed something odd. He walked up to it. "What is this?"
"What is what?" Atom's mom also walked up to the door. When Atom got there, he took a closer looked at the thing on the door. It was a small dome, stuck on the handle. Atom's mom saw it as well.
"I wonder what this is." Atom grabbed the dome and began to pull. It began to give, then suddenly popped off, making Atom fall back into his mom, nearly knocking them both over. They were able to regain their balance before they fell and Atom took another look at the dome. It didn't look like much, until he looked on the underside of it. On the bottom was the Haos symbol. He gasped. "What does this mean?"
"Isn't that one of the symbols for that game you're obsessed with?" Asked Atom's mom.
"Again, it is real." Said Atom. "And yes, it is from Bakugan." The symbol lit up at the word and began to grow brighter. "What the?!" It continued to glow brighter.
"What's going on?"
"I don't" started Atom, before he vanished, unwillingly drawn between Realities.
"Atom!"

When Atom had recovered, he was already dozens of Realities away from him home. He looked around, not familiar with his current location. However, the feeling of familiarity resounded within him. "Where am I?" He did not expect a voice to respond.
"You are at a unique part of between Realities." Atom jumped.
"Who are you?" He felt like he remembered the voice.
"Don't you remember?" A being flashed in from of him, revealing Genesis Dragonoid.
"Genesis?"
"Exactly. Now, I believe you have lots of questions, but I'll answer a few before you ask them. No, Realities are not in danger. No, the Destruction has not returned. And no, you are not in trouble."
"Well, then what am I out here for?"
"Simple. When you helped with recreation of the lost Realities, you accidentally boosted another. And, I believe you had a dream about this a while ago before the Destruction destroyed Bakugan." Atom gasped.
"You mean Bakugan World Championship?"
"Precisely. And it has been decided that, in order to prepare you for what may or may not come, you will need to train from the beginning. So that is why you are being sent to the BWC Reality. Do you understand?"
"So, if I'm understanding this right, I'm being trained for something that may or may not come in the future?"
"Yes. Any other questions?"
"Is there anything special I need to know about in the Reality?"
"I think it would be better for you to learn by doing. Oh yeah, one more thing." Genesis glowed a little, and a yellow Realital gate opened up nearby. "You're going to need your old partner, right?" Leonidas came through the gate.
"Leo?" Asked Atom.
"Atom?" Leonidas glowed.
"And now to make sure you can actually work within the Reality." Said Genesis. Leonidas reverted to ball form and landed on Atom's shoulder. He glowed for a few more seconds before it faded, revealing that he had Devolved from Mythical Leonidas to just being Leonidas. "Good luck you two. And remember, have fun!" One Reality began glowing against the darkness. Then Atom and Leonidas began to glow as well. They quickly went towards the glowing Reality.
"Well, with any luck, I won't get Realital Sleep from this." Said Atom just before they entered. He closed his eyes, and when he opened them he was standing before a small terminal. It showed only a few words.
Please insert name.
"Well, any ideas Leo?"
"Why don't you put your name in?" Atom pressed the keys needed and the screen changed.
Insert Gender. Atom did so. Race. It gave a few options, so Atom put in Human. Personality.
"Okay, this is getting a bit tedious." Said Atom.
"Might as well finish it up." Said Leo. Atom quickly put in his personality, then his traits, followed by his likes, dislikes, strengths and weaknesses. The terminal scanned his body and put a small paragraph about his appearance. Atom added that he had an Attribute Wheel on his left hand. Then it asked for something Atom wasn't expecting.
Character Story.
"Why does it want my story?" Asked Atom.
"Just give the highlights." Said Leo. Atom put in the major highlights of his time being a Reality Shifter.
Attribute, Starter Cards and Starter Special Shots.
"Special shots?" Asked Atom. A question mark appeared next to the words. Atom pressed it and quickly went over it. "Well, those seem interesting." He inserted Haos, then got four ability cards that were varied. Then he got three starter Gate Cards. And he finally selected two special shots.
Choose Starter Bakugan. Atom quickly typed in Leonidas and tried to continue. Error. Please select 3 starters.
"3?" Asked Atom. He typed in Falconeer and Siege and the error went away.
Anything else you want mentioned? Atom shrugged and put in Reality Shifter. The terminal beeped. Ready. Character Profile finished. Sending in for review: Atom, Reality Shifter. The screen changed to show a progress bar. It was divided into five sections. The first was already full, and that was completion. The second was mostly done and it was labeled sending. The third and fourth seemed similar, being Review and Approval. The final was Accepted. The bar jumped into the third part, then quickly went to the fourth. Atom watched the screen halfheartedly, thinking about his friends and family back home. Then the terminal pinged. It showed one word.
Approved. One of the walls in the room Atom was in began shaking, and slowly opened. Light began streaming in, blinding Atom for a few seconds. When he was able to see again, he gazed upon a place that, to him, looked similar to Bakugan Interspace, but in the real world. Something appeared in front of him. It was a yellow Bakumeter. He grabbed it and put it on. A map pulled up above it, showing him everywhere he could go. Several words appeared on it.
Welcome to BWC! We hope you stay a while! Enjoy! Atom looked at the ten areas he could go to.
"Well, rules and information seems to be a good first stop." The words registered on the map.
Destination: Rules and Information Building. Transport? Y/N.
"Transport?" Asked Atom. The map highlighted the Y, and Atom began to glow. He looked over himself before vanishing. When he reappeared, he was just outside a building. Looking at the map, he saw that he was just outside the Building he was thinking of stopping at first. "Well, we're here."
"Let's take a look inside." Said Leo. Atom walked up to the doors and pulled one open. He stepped inside and saw someone.
"Hello there!" Said the person. "Can I help you?"
"Yeah." Said Atom. "I'm here to look at the rules really quick."
"Isn't that what all new people do?" Asked the person.
"I suppose." Said Atom.
"Can we get to the rules?" Asked Leo.
"Wait, a talking Bakugan?" Asked the person. "Hm. Haven't seen one of those in a while. Nevertheless, I suppose I should quickly read through your character profile to learn who you are." The person pressed a few buttons on  their Bakumeter and brought up Atom's profile. "So, your name is Atom and your partner is Leonidas, eh? Well then. Welcome to Bakugan World Championship!" The person sighed. "Well, now that's out of the way. I guess I should introduce myself now. My name is...

[Lydia Andersen]

"Lydia, nice to meet you." Said the person speaking to the young man.

Lydia performed a bowing gesture upon her introduction. To her, it was a common thing to do when introducing herself to new people. For some reason her appearance reminded of what a serving maid would look like. Mainly, black and white clothing. Upon her introduction a light suddenly flashed by her revealing a Bakugan orb colored in black and white. "Oh, and this is my partner, Maste." Lydia introduced her Bakugan. It used to be a dual Bakugan with all sorts of interesting powers and after the evolution Maste became quite a show to those thirsty of seeing unusual fighting styles. "Greetings, little ones." Maste greeted Atom and Leonidas. When Lydia said she had not seen a talking Bakugan in a while that must have not counted her own since this one appeared to be more than capable of speaking. Maste was a female Bakugan, resembling half-devil half-angel, while her tone was quite gentle. Lydia thought it would be polite to share a few more details about herself with the young man even thought it might not have been necessary. "I'm from Earth- eh, one of the Earths... And Maste is a one-of-a-kind Bakugan from Vestroia- again, 'our' Vestroia." Lydia tried to explain. Knowing how universe works, due to Maste's powers of traveling through Dimensions, it is hard to keep track of every planet and possibility. In different dimensions there are different Earths, may not be called Earths at all, may not exist at all sometimes. And by 'one-of-a-kind' Bakugan she meant that Maste's race was extinct, apart from Maste herself.

"I assume you've been told why you are here?" Lydia curiously inquired.

[Atom]

"Well, I wasn't specifically told why I'm here." Said Atom. "Aside from training from the beginning. I suppose I could explain everything to how I got up here, with starting back in my home Reality." Atom thought back to what Lydia said. "Wait, one of the Earths? What exactly do you mean by that? I understand the 'our Vestroia' part being this Reality's Vestroia, but there's other Earths here?"
"From what she said, that seems to be the case." Said Leo. Atom thought of something.
"Hold on, is it possible that you're another Reality Shifter?" Asked Atom.

"Uhh... I don't think so." Lydia said referring to Atom's inquiry about Reality Shifters. She then pointed towards her partner, Maste. "She can 'mess' with reality so that is how we know." Lydia vaguely explained Maste's power. Guess that should, at least, imply she has power of accessing different universes and their respective realities. That is quite a rare Bakugan- many people commented to Lydia on how they'd want to have such Bakugan so they could travel through dimensions as well. Some even offered money to her to 'sell Maste's services', but Lydia showed no interest for such thing. Even though Lydia might not have been a Reality Shifter she had different 'odd perks' that standard humans in her world do not have. For one, she had powers of evolution itself in her body and mind- her body and mind were a few centuries ahead of 'her' humanity. "I'm an Achron unit... though... that might be a topic for another time." Lydia jokingly said referring to her origins and origins of some of the powers she has. Atom probably has not even heard of 'Achron units' so it would be impolite to bother him with all the details right away; with time he could learn of it if he wanted to. 

"And, there are multiple Earths, yes. Some are more advanced than others, some are more aggressive and sometimes a reality does not even have its Earth or Earth does not contain human life." Lydia tried to explain. This was one of the amusing topics back on 'her Earth'- theories that there are multiple dimensions, parallel universes and things like those. Many movies and books were inspired by there theories, but it was always a 'sci-fi' topic. And, apparently, it is not a sci-fi anymore. 

[Atom]

"Well then, that's a new one for me." Said Atom. "So, it's not you that can traverse Dimensions, but Maste." He looked at Leo. "Sounds a bit like you."
"Well, not right now." Said Leo. "That's my future form, remember?" Atom gave a small laugh.
"Yeah, you're right. I keep forgetting that you're not in your Mythical form." Atom looked back to Lydia and noticed her confused look. "Oh, right. I suppose I should explain that." Atom took a deep breath. "Ok, so this is going to sound a bit crazy, but bear with me on this. Before I came here, Genesis Dragonoid summoned me outside the Reality. He told me that I needed to train from the beginning for something that might or might not come. So, he summoned Leo here" Atom gestured to Leo, "and changed him from his most evolved form to his least evolved form. His most evolved being Mythical Leonidas and his least just being Leonidas. Then we were sent in here, I went through the sign-up process, and then got here. And then you know the rest." Atom took another breath. "Does that clear up what I was just saying to Leo?"

[Lydia Andersen]

"Yeah, pretty much. Seen some 'similar cases' before." Lydia acknowledged and referred to things happening in her dimension. It was nothing important to bother Atom with- it was just similar. For instance, Maste herself have been 'reverted' to a lower form by a demigod Bakugan, but as a 'crime punishment'- eventually, Maste broke out of the curse and came back to her original form she now assumes. "Oh, not crazy at all- if it involves Genesis Dragonoid it, definitely, should be a reasonable case." Lydia said. She never had an official encounter with Genesis Dragonoid; she did see him a few times though, but never had a particular reason to enter a conversation. She does wonder if his existence is 'set in stone' among Realities- if he could be the only Genesis Dragonoid in all dimensions. Those kinds of beings do exist- sometimes there are 'absolute objects/beings' that are unique to one dimension. While being on 'her Earth' these kinds of things were never happening- traveling through dimensions does result in meeting many interesting individuals. Being someone like Lydia on Earth is usually reacted to with discrimination so it is unusual to witness places where 'people with powers' are hated.

"So- what are your plans now, Mr.Atom?" Lydia inquired.

[Atom]

"Where'd you get the Mr. from?" Asked Atom. "Anyways, my plan is to learn the rules of this place and try to figure out why Genesis sent me here. Main reason I'm here, after all." Atom thought for a second. "So, what are the rules of this place? In specific, the battle rules. I'm imagining that there must be some stipulations, although I have no clue as to what they might be." Atom looked around the room for a moment, and saw another terminal. "Is that the rules database?"
"It looks a bit like the terminal we started at." Said Leo.

[Lydia Andersen]

"Ah, yes, the rules. You can view all the rules at that terminal." Lydia informed pointing at the terminal they were referring to. There were not only Battle Rules, but other various rules of behavior outside the combat- such 'general rules' that include all people; those who came to fight or just look around- everyone must act accordingly to them. "You might need some time, but rules are fairly easy to memorize and go by. Note that they might change in future as well." Lydia explains that gesturing with her right that Atom and Leonidas might go to the terminal view the rules if they wished so. It was recommended for all people to view them so they would not get into trouble; no one is forced to, but it should be common sense to view the rules before deciding to act in any way. Atom seemed like a reasonable person to deal with when it came to rules. Lydia did not mention that, but there were more people than she could count who would come and act disregarding different types of rules- there were many sorts of excuses for such behavior, as it always is with people who break the rules. Many people, which is reasonable, come and visit the place, but do not grow fond of it and leave. 

"Do not sweat it too much. I am sure you will get the hang of it pretty quickly and effectively. And if anything is unclear I'll do my best to help." Lydia encouraged. It was in her nature to act helpful towards others- it does sometimes do more harm than good. 

[Atom]

Atom walked over to the terminal and tapped the screen. It beeped and pulled up lines of information. Atom first pressed the code of conduct and quickly skimmed it. Its overall message was to not be a jerk and to be respectful to everybody. He tapped through a few areas, leaving the battle rules for last. Most of them stated basically common sense, though a few were a little more odd. Then he pressed the Battle Rules button. Instead of showing a small list of rules, it showed several more lists to choose from. "Wow. And here I thought the rules back in Bakugan were complicated." He whispered. He began pressing through the rules, starting with cards. "4 normal abilities, 1 fusion and 1 special. Seems straightforward." He then looked at the Bakugan rules. Skimming it quickly, he saw that unevolved Bakugan could only have 500 Gs maximum. "Shouldn't be much of a problem." The next thing on the list was Honor Points. Looking through it, Atom quickly figured out the ranking system and how to get the points. He looked back at the list and saw that the last section he thought he had to look at was evolutions. Opening it revealed a longer list than usual, listing the needed things to evolve Bakugan, Traps, Battle Gear, BakuNano, Mechtogan and Battle Suits. He let out a low whistle. "These are really in depth." He then noticed something odd about the Bakugan evolutions. "Only three evolutions?"
"Are you sure?" Asked Leo. "That would only get me to Neo Leonidas."
"According to this, that's the limit." Atom looked at Lydia. "So, why exactly are evolutions limited to three?"

[Lydia Andersen]

"These rules were made in much older times so it is beyond my knowledge... however, if it was for me to guess I would say it is for the sake of balance. Balancing overly powerful Bakugans with overly high G-powers and keeping arenas in good condition would be difficult. Plus, I find it rather interesting- it proves to be challenging." Lydia attempted to explain and guess the reasoning behind all that. She has not been in the system for that long to know what original creators planned for the place and for people who decide to be inside it. They made rules that changed from time to time, but original intents could only be found if original creators were inquired. As for the balance, it would be fairly difficult to maintain everything if a bunch of Bakugans with 10,000 G or more were to enter combat in there and unleash all of their dangerous abilities in a short span. Raw power was weakened, but Bakugans were not stripped of their original and signature abilities because of 'evolution drawbacks'. "However, Bakugans are not directly prohibited from evolving the fourth time. Many take it as 'final' evolution since any evolution after does not grant bonuses in G-power. Your Bakugan still may evolve and gain various features- only drawback is that it will not gain any extra raw G-power. For instance, if you want to gain more Attributes, you can evolve solely for that purpose. It is up to you. Many take it third evolution as a stopping point and switch Bakugans." Lydia explained from her previous experience. She recalls only 2 or 3 brawlers who actually went beyond third evolution in order to attain other useful bonuses such as upgrading their Bakugan to be able to change attributes and to have more attributes. Some simply thought changing shape of their Bakugan would be more beneficial; instead of it being bipedal they would switch to a more animal-like design.

"Some Bakugans are allowed to have more base power in arena, but those are mostly the ones tied to security- moderators and administrators in case someone starts trouble." Lydia explained recalling that her Maste has 1500 G of base power. "In any way- if you have any evolution-bound abilities I am certain there won't be trouble for you with it."

[Atom]

"Okay then, I guess that does make sense." Said Atom. He walked away from the console. "Learn the rules." He thought. "Check." He went down his mental list. "In any Reality, I have to find friends. I also need to know the history of a place. I guess I should ask that question." Atom looked a Lydia. "So, what is the history of this place? I know next to nothing about it, and I think it might help me figure out why Genesis sent me here."

[Lydia Andersen]

"Haha, I could go on for entire day about it." Lydia laughed mildly at the question.

She decided to sum it up in a few sentences so Atom would not need to sweat all of the details and lose track in the 'history'. She herself did not know all the history in detail- only stories she was given after a certain period of time spent there. Original creators of this magnificent creation and veteran brawlers know history the best so Lydia's opinion is that their stories should taken into much higher consideration than hers. "This area was created by powerful brawlers out of two reasons- one was for many brawlers to share joys of brawling together, gathering together and having fun together. Second goal was to 'give birth' to many powerful brawlers that, eventually, would stand united against bigger evil." Lydia shortly explained the main goal of the area's creation. "There were many areas such as this one, but this one eventually came to grow the biggest. Creators of these areas and some other members argued over various things- sometimes it was as plain as jealousy." Lydia recalled a story of another high-ranking member of that society who had an opportunity to witness those 'wars' filled with nothing but nonsense between people who, instead of fighting together against evil and having fun with each other, decided to war among themselves because of petty reasons. "Even this place had its fair share of misfortune. With great power comes great responsibility and so they could not bear the responsibility. Blinded by their own powers they became tyrants of their own kind- driving anyone out who was not to their liking. Eventually, they were taken down by brawlers who came out as stronger and dished out the justice upon them. After that, an era of peace, which still lasts, began." Lydia explained. Names, roles, purposes and powers of all people involved in either good or bad side were recorded and left intact so that the area would never forget both glory and tragedy its members went through with all those years.

"Of course, era of peace has its bad sides as well. Many people do not see much danger so they let their guard down or leave not thinking any of the threats would come up again. I cannot blame them- such is the human nature. Perhaps Genesis Dragonoid sees potential threats to happen in the future and would like as many of us to be present when such thing occurs." Lydia explained and have her assumption on Genesis' decision on sending Atom here. Lydia knows the situation with the current leaders very well- there certainly is not any threat on the inside, but there could always be something on the outside. Even if someone on the inside was to do something irrational there is no chance they would withstand what awaits such people.

[Atom]

"Human nature is a beast." Said Atom. "Thanks for the info. It shed a little light on why I might be here. But it's still not enough light to see the goal. I guess I'm just going to have to explore a bit more to try and figure it out." Atom looked at his Bakumeter and pulled up the map. "I know that the basic cards will not hold up well against anybody else here, but I also need to learn about how the battles flow here. Any suggestions as to where I should go next?"

[Lydia Andersen]

"My suggestion..." Lydia began and then pulls out a small remote out of her pocket. She does a single click causing one of the terminals to produce a holographic image of a section that appeared to have multiple sub-sections and different names attached to them. And, in each sub-section, there were multiple names that seemed to be names of cards, Bakugans, Support Weapons etc. And the title of the main section stated the word 'Bakupack'. "Inventory... or, as the pun name says- Bakupack." Lydia pointed out. "Anything that may be used in combat brawler needs to list there. Once it is registered their 'battle devices' such as gauntlets will recognize it and allow you to use it at any time. That way, no matter how big a deck of card is, you only have to imagine the card you want and it will be at your disposal. Of course, you can use items that are not registered, but that would be breaking a rule. We've had some individuals like that." Lydia explained and recalled a few particular ones. She specifically recalls one who saw Bakupack of legendary brawler, Dan Kuso, and then 'claimed it' as their own hoping Dan Kuso would not notice since he was rarely present, but person did not realize Dan was keeping track of things happening so he intervened and person's name was put on the wall of shame as of a cheater.

"Then... May I suggest visiting Battle Arena?" Lydia said. "You are not required to fight anyone right away, but I believe spectating would bring valuable experience to you." Lydia suggested knowing that seeing job done is one of the good ways to obtain knowledge and 'pre-experience' that could greatly increase one's effectiveness in gaining their own experience.

[Atom]

"Thanks for the suggestion." Said Atom. It truly was a good suggestion. He didn't have to participate in brawls, but he could watch them to figure out how they flowed. Atom tapped the area on his map and it zoomed in. Atom tapped on the main dome, thinking it would show him the current battles. "Thanks again for the info. Hopefully I'll be able to discover what might be coming." The transport question pulled up and Atom pressed yes. He began to glow, then smiled. "Here's hoping for the future!" He vanished.
