Gorem was struck in the side by his own creation's barrier. It grinded against him, constantly burning his body until Gorem could get away from it. He then struggled to stand up straight with the ability's effect being amplified. He defied kneeling all he could, but his body was stronger than his mind right now.
"Oh my goodness..." Yuji gasped.
"..." Miko didn't know what to add to that. This was shocking. Allen was really in a losing situation here. It was as Allen feared from the beginning. Calvin wasn't declared to be unbeatable out of misplaced judgment. This move shows that Calvin mastered his abilities, his matchups, and - most importantly - he knows how to keep his cool.
"Allen, no... Please..." Miko begged.

Calvin groaned a little. This was a scary situation. He's on the verge of dealing the finishing blow, but...was it really that easy? He didn't think so, and that's what made him concerned about this situation. Still, with the 'Morgana' replacement still active, there was no dangerous option that could cost Calvin the brawl.
"No matter how this next attack goes, I'm sure we can both agree. No one could've predicted this," Calvin stated. The Quakix Gorem rolled into a ball to execute Dragonus' Darkus Blow. It revved up and got ready to run Gorem over and possibly end this thing.

Gorem would take this hit uncontested if he's rocked. That may be it since Gorem doesn't have the ability to defend himself. Allen had to change that.
"Ability activate. Gaia Savior," Allen played. This pays homage to an old ability: Gaia Nueva. The trick behind this is that Gorem has to consciously store energy into this ability beforehand. It's like a backup energy source for when Gorem doesn't have any. A glowing, Subterra-brown hand rose from underneath Gorem and touched his back. Gorem was infused with a portion of his backup energy, which was enough to return him back to his base strength.
"Now here's where we start winning. Ability activate. Terra Barrier!" Allen played this with conviction. The effects of the ability will carry that intensity. As a highly powered-up version of the old Bound Barrier, this would grant Gorem a personal barrier. Unlike the template, this one can adopt the defensive capabilities of any defensive ability in Gorem's arsenal. This one would be simple, but effective: Negation Surge. The barrier initially released a powerful wave of force that covered the entire arena. The fiery barriers, the terrifying Nagas, and Ninjus were all repelled and withered away into white particles. Gorem then sported the personal barrier Bound Barrier was always known for; however, thanks to Negation Surge's application, it could cancel abilities it comes into contact with.
"I'm sure some people got their hopes up over me being in that situation, but it won't be that easy. There's always one thing you can predict when it comes to me," Allen declared shortly before Gorem charged straight for Dragonus who just appeared back on the field. "There's no trick that you have that'll keep me down."

Calvin grinned after Allen did what he did. That's really all he could do. Comparatively, DeAngelo and Benjamin may have been defeated by that combo. Allen was just different.
"Activating Death Tornado!" Calvin played. This was one of the abilities Calvin called on through Darkus Vision. Dragonus pointed his arm cannon at Gorem and shot a giant vertical twister. It was a strange twister: a twister within a twister, the one on the outside influencing the wind power of the one on the inside. This meant that the bulk of the damage would be dealt closer to the center of the attack. This attack hits multiple times instead of once. This was to test the integrity of Gorem's barrier. Could it be brute-forced by having it struck multiple times by an ability like this, or was it an absolute counter to everything? Calvin would find out here.
Oddly, the presence of this ability spawned a number of horizontal twisters around the battlefield. They weren't immediately relevant, but it was worth mentioning.

Calvin shouldn't have done that. While it was true that Terra Barrier would go down due to the repeated stress on it from the super-powered twister, was the same true for Dragonus' own special barrier?
"Ability activate. Creed of the Battler." This would be the textbook case of giving the opponent a taste of their own medicine. As Gorem was closing the distance, Terra Barrier was about to disappear. As it did, Gorem used his jet boots to gain some air. He raised his left fist and held it in Dragonus' direction. His fist absorbed the impacts from Death Tornado. As it did, the properties and power of Death Tornado were assimilated. A turbulent wind power formed around Gorem's hand. It gave off terrifying pressure in terms of power. Only Dragonus could know how powerful it was from personal experience, because it was headed straight for his face.
"Smile!" Gorem encouraged before delivering the mouthful.

"Oh..." Dragonus groaned, because he knew he'd be hit. Too much concentration had to be put into Death Tornado. Anticipating the blow was more painful than the hit itself. When it landed, it was devastating enough to be shown in slow motion. Dragonus' entire body had a visible vibration flow through it starting from his mouth. His shield broke instantly due to the multiple hits he would've taken being stacked with Gorem's punch. The punch itself produced enough power to shatter the barriers...again. When it regenerated, Dragonus ended up breaking it by getting launched into it. Dragonus plummeted to the ground face-first, which was unfavorable to him due to Gorem's changes to it. He couldn't get traction, so he continued to slip. During that time, Dragonus got to see the blood from his face drip onto the ground.
"Gorem hurt him real bad with that one..." Yuji figured.
"Amazing..." Miko acknowledged.
"..." For the first time in a long time, Calvin was getting concerned. Dragonus has never been hurt this way before. He also got the feeling his daughter was seeing this. Indeed, she was with Rumi with the most concerned look out of anyone. Calvin knew that he had to use something really powerful to survive this next turn. He had the perfect idea in mind...
"Activating a fusion ability, Legendary Axium!" Calvin initiated. This was the third and last card he saved with Darkus Vision. The injured Dragonus disappeared. He was replaced with five Bakugan Gorem is very familiar with...

Gorem was proud of his punch actually doing damage, but he chose the wrong time to be down an arm. He took a couple of steps backwards out of concern for his safety. Dragonus has just called on the strongest ability he ever used: summoning five of the Resistors. Drago, Hydranoid, Skystar, Gargulion, and Gladion were lined up in formation. All of a sudden, everyone could feel the strong winds coming from the battle. Was it from the twisters from Death Tornado, or was it the overwhelming power of the Resistors? Only the strong ones will know the difference and how terrifying this battle just became.
"Uh oh..." Yuji dreaded for Allen. "I don't think we've ever seen Calvin go this far before..."
"Going against five Resistors is absurd...but doing it by yourself...? I don't know what to say anymore..." Miko surrendered.
The silver lining in all this was that Ahio and Gorem were not on Calvin's side, so there was a chance for Gorem to live through this. Allen just has to survive as best as he can. He'll need to tread lightly here.
"Ability activate. Vesuvious Shell!" Allen played. Gorem skillfully used one hand to charge what used to be a two-handed ability. He pressed his right palm on his chest. The earthen material on his body grew to a gargantuan size. Gorem's appearance was now a giant version of his face. What is the point of this you might ask? Think of this like Gorem's version of Battalix Prime. Gorem's condition stays where it is until this ability is dealt with. It steadily increases his defensive capabilities by 5% for every five seconds he's in it. If it lasts for thirty seconds, Gorem will be equipped with armor that even Drago would have trouble with. This technically meant that Gargulion couldn't hit him with Soul Shock or Grim Beyonder, because his condition stays constant. The Shell needed to be broken, or Dragonus was a goner.
Gladion called on Poseidon's Trident. He summoned torrential downpour that flooded the arena in about five seconds. It was like someone pouring a bucket of water on someone's head, except on a much bigger scale. This set a world record for the quickest flood ever formed. He then manipulated the water to circle around Gorem's shell. He then used Greek Fire. As he did this, Skystar released Elemental Catalyst. It mixed well with the surrounding twisters to scorch the arena in a fiery explosion. This happened at the same time as Gladion's Greek Fire attack entered the water sphere. The explosion and the fiery mess that ensued was powerful enough to strike fear into all federal law enforcement agencies across the globe. And break the barriers to and cause the power-mitigating satellites to do their work.
Throughout all of that, there was still Gorem on the field. He clung to broken pieces of his Vesuvious Shell. He held it in front of him like a makeshift shield.
"He survived that...?" Yuji expressed in great shock.
"It's not over yet..." Miko regrettably responded. As she said that, the pieces of Gorem's ability crumbled. But now, he has his left hand back. That'll make all the difference.
"That was one of my stronger abilities too... This is getting dangerous..." Gorem acknowledged. He spoke too soon. Hydranoid used Alpha Gainer... Wait...but why? Allen observed the dark pillar and felt its pressure. He immediately knew what it was. He felt it up close before.
"You may be trying to trick me with this, but... Wouldn't it make more sense to use the better version of that ability?" Allen questioned. Him being Alana's 'brother' has its perks. He already knows that Hydranoid progressed that ability to 'Omega Gainer', which is a lot more refined than this mass absorption. This mockery was using a weaker ability. This could be one of two things, or both: the abilities that summon other Bakugan in Dragonus' place can only use what Calvin knows about, or there is a limit to what Dragonus could have these replicas do. These are the strongest summons Dragonus brought out so far. It's possible that he may have to manage his resources if the duration is finite. Even if that was true, there's still Morgana who stayed on the field until Gorem forced her out.
"Oh well... This next ability won't be as good, but it'll do..." Gorem settled.
"Ability activate. Monolith Collapse!" Gorem manipulated the broken pieces of his previous ability. He positioned them behind him and formed a triangle. Once it glowed, Gorem used raised his arms as a mysterious structure rose from underneath.

Calvin stayed silent. He wasn't going to answer that question and potentially give away the secret to his ability. The truth was, latter part of Allen's potential assessment was mostly the reason: there are finite resources that affect how long the ability last, especially if the entity is of equal or superior power to Dragonus' own. Additionally, the entities can only use what Calvin knows about, since...he actually programs those abilities. If he doesn't know - like with Morgana's last act on this field - he guesses.
Anyway, a pristine, Subterra monolith rose from the ground. It was etched with the signatures of a lot of Subterra warriors of old. It also looked very shiny. Its shine was enhanced by its glow. That's when trouble came...
"What the hell...?" Calvin gasped. Hydranoid let out a painful scream. He fell over and found it very difficult to get back up. The reason why: Monolith Collapse decreases stamina based on how high the victim's power level is. This was intended to be a secret weapon against Drago, Hydranoid, and Ahio if they decided to jack up their power levels against Gorem. Because of Hydranoid's unrefined absorption with Alpha Gainer, the hydra was effectively incapacitated. This isn't representative of what would happen to the real Hydranoid, but against mere replicas, it was very effective. To make matters worse, the other replicas were also subjected to this ability; however, they did not suffer instant drawbacks since they weren't as dumb as this Hydranoid. The lifespan of this ability drastically shrank thanks to this. Calvin was very unhappy with this. One could see it on his face.
"I don't have a choice then..." Drago activated Novia Weapon. He brushed his scales on Hydranoid's body to absorb the power accumulated through Alpha Gainer. In Drago's spectacular act of defiance - and with help from his Switch Code - he poured the energy into the ground.

"...Oh shit..." Gorem cursed. He had a feeling Drago would just act like nothing was wrong.
"Nothing that good ol' Vurtious Counter can't handle," Allen responded. As soon as the Novia Blades stuck out from the ground, Gorem sprung forward and jumped. Numerous blades went for him, but just when everyone thought he was hit, he vanished. Two things happened from here: one that Allen expected, and one he didn't. What he expected: the ground was destroyed. What he didn't expect: the Resistors' Bakugan disappeared and spat Dragonus back out on the field. This was more than good. Gorem was originally planning to use this ability to get them off the field. Too bad they're gone, because Dragonus was eating this one.
"Looks like you made a mistake," Gorem shot back from when Dragonus thought he was all good for avoiding Gravitron Seism. He appeared to Dragonus' right hip. He used the momentum generated from Virtuous Counter's movement tech and the potential energy that Drago's Novia Weapon carried. He drove his left knee into Dragonus' liver.

The severity of this hit could be described by the look on someone's face: Calvin's daughter right before she burst out crying. DeAngelo was whistling to himself to keep his cool. Her crying was bothering him, but the fear of Calvin not pulling through terrified him. Him - Calvin's chief rival - having the opportunity to give Calvin his first defeat possibly taken away by someone else was gut-wrenching. He nodded and smiled just as easily though. Even though the brawl wasn't over just yet, he was more than proud to see Calvin pushed this far.
"..." Rumi stopped trying to calm Nia down at this point. Whatever happened now just happened. She kept replaying what she just watched in her head: the barriers being broken from the force of Gorem's knee strike alone, Dragonus being flung to the stadium barriers, the barriers breaking Dragonus' fall, and Dragonus miraculously digging his left hand into the wall of the large, bottomless pit to keep himself from falling in.
"No matter how this ends, be proud of Allen Silva. No one has ever done what this young man is doing right now," Miko wanted to acknowledge. Whether or not haters will hate him is another story...
"The ref is coming out right now..." Yuji dreaded to say. This was a similar circumstance to when Noland defeated Jimmy. There's a bottomless pit caused by the same Dragonoid, and there's a victim clinging to life. Calvin knew where this was going. He half-expected to be ruled out by the fact that whoever loses this brawl now would fall in this pit. He'd have to do something to make sure he survives this and not get disqualified for safety reasons.
"I thought it'd come to this... I wish it didn't..." Calvin solemnly regretted. Now, he was going to show his true power. "If I lose, fine, but not before I see how this goes... Dragonus, entering Soul Spirit Level 2!"

This 'Soul Spirit Level 2' greatly intrigued Noland. He didn't show it, but he was getting concerned. Calvin's energy flared to the point that - in his human form - it produced identical pressure to the power of Sentinel Dragonoid's base form. If that's not impressive by itself, then also consider what has been established at the beginning: the quality of Achron power enables the user to perform at a much higher level than what their power level suggests. Also consider the fact that this energy was being added onto Dragonus' current level, which was already gauged by Noland to be about equal to Ahio's...
"...Wow..." Drago plainly remarked.
"Yeah..." Noland agreed.

Dragonus looked like he was smothered in red energy. This energy was very clean-looking. It didn't look out-of-control or flashy like most people thinks high power should look like. A darker-red barrier then erected around Dragonus, but it didn't stay for long. It was steadily absorbed by Dragonus until it disappeared completely. He then unhooked his arm from the arena walls and floated like he wasn't hurt at all. He wasn't, because he sacrificed this forms shielding properties to completely rejuvenate himself. This means he no longer has any form of protection, but did it really matter? For almost every hit Gorem landed, he was efficient. Each blow made the most of any opening there was. He'd have lost if he took another hit, so why bother?
Unfortunately, entering this form has its drawbacks. Dragonus can't maintain this form for long. Ordinarily, he has five minutes; however, each movement speeds up how fast that time runs out. If he runs out of time and reverts back to his base form, he'll be in a tired state. This said state deprives him of the majority of his Achron-related abilities. He'll lose for sure if that happens.
The hologram in front of Calvin disappeared, and was replaced with another one. He got an entirely new set of cards to use. He didn't activate a single card though. He stood still and remained watchful.

Allen wasn't disturbed by the power increase at all. He was going to follow Calvin's lead and just stand there, but that wouldn't be entertaining, would it?
"Gorem, I know you don't like using this, but..." Allen tried to signal. Gorem didn't let him finish that sentence. He went ahead and had the weapon materialize out of thin air. He grabbed the fabled multi-pronged lochaber axe: Pandemonium's Purge.
"..." Gorem didn't comment on having to use it. He didn't make what he was thinking known to anyone. Truthfully, he wanted this weapon out of his hands as soon as possible. "I can tell by his body language that he's healthy, which means we're back where we started. I see how everyone else feels when they go against me now."
"...We'll just have to take this more seriously then..." Allen figured. He sounded a lot more ominous with that statement than anyone would expect. "Ability activate. Peak Potential." This ability was probably the most useful buff in Allen's arsenal. It greatly enhances the potential energy Gorem builds. This lasts until Gorem leaves the field, so the longer Calvin drags this out, the worse it will be for him.

Calvin knew he was in trouble. Gorem standing still was bad. Dragonus needs Gorem to come to him. The clock was ticking, so...he had to do something...
"Guess I can't keep everyone waiting..." Calvin sighed. He started to accept whatever came out of this. It was all he could do. "Activating Dragon Demolisher!"
Dragonus pointed his arm cannon towards Gorem. Tiny strands of Pyrus energy poured out of it. They were small enough to where the untrained eye couldn't see it. The amount of strands that came out were immeasurable. If a single strand makes physical contact, a series of explosions would follow. A SINGLE strand.

Post by Allen Silva on Nov 27, 2020 12:25:59 GMT -5
Gorem held Pandemonium's Purge in front of him so that weapon's shield absorbs the explosions. Since the strands were flowing in a straight line, Gorem didn't have to worry about adjusting the weapon's position. He did find it odd that the explosions were kinda rocking him a little. He was being pushed back, but only a little bit thanks to his Peak Potential enhancement. That gave him an indication of how high Dragonus' power level is relative to his own. That wasn't enough to give Gorem trouble though...
"This is giving me Drago vibes here..." Gorem remarked of Dragonus' strength. "...Shame that doesn't affect me as much..."
Allen was gaining confidence as this was going on. He didn't want to make a premature call, but he felt this brawl would be in his favor. All he has to do is not get greedy...
"Gorem...I think I know how to beat him..." Allen believed.
"Yeah?" Gorem was interested to know what Allen came up with.
"Here's the best part. You'll only need two abilities." Allen put this out there in the hopes that Calvin would get concerned and make a risky move. From what it looks like, Calvin was in desperation mode. Anything Allen can do to force Calvin's hand would be favorable to him.
